In Chelsea’s recent victory over Watford in the weekend showed that while the Blues have the fighting spirit their defense could still use some upgrades in order to be formidable.
The pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly does not seem to be going anywhere and the Blues now are reported to be lining up a move for Giorgio Chiellini from Juventus. The club from Serie A has already done some big ticket transfers this window and the likelihood of selling one of their best defenders may be slim. Nonetheless, the Blues are interested and are hopeful of landing the Italy international as Conte has experience working with Chiellini.
John Terry and Gary Cahill are the only prominent central defender in the Chelsea team. With Kurt Zouma injured, the club may face a major crisis if any of them gets injured during the season. The price tag on Chiellini is expected to be £25 million but Conte seems to have no problem with it according to the Sun.
