Juventus Prepare To Hijack World Class Chelsea Target Right Under Their Nose

James Rodriguez

The Italian giants could be able to raid Chelsea’s transfer as Juve’s club chief Beppe Marotta is reportedly interested in bringing the Colombian to Turin. James said last weekend that he could look to leave Real Madrid due to a lack of first-team opportunities under Zinedine Zidane.

The statements of the Colombian drew criticism from Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and Juve could be in a position to take advantage of James’ discontent, although the European champions’ transfer embargo means they could be more inclined to hold onto the 25-year-old until that ban is lifted at the end of the season.

James has struggled for first team starts over the recent few months and despite putting in good performances it seems that James would never be part of Real Madrid’s first team regular for a while. Chelsea were keen on signing James as Oscar is leaving the club for Shanghai SIPG, they would be needing to recruit a midfielder and also have the money to do so. However, Juventus have also thrown the ring into the hat to apparently hijack the move.

When asked specifically about Rodriguez, Marotta said:

‘It depends on what we do in the transfer market. We have to respect the balance sheet, but Juve want to position themselves among the best clubs in the world and so it is and this is and always will be our ambitious objective. Four or five years ago, we certainly could not have allowed ourselves to spend the figures we spent on players such as (Gonzalo) Higuain or (Miralem) Pjanic, but now we can.’

“Our potential has grown a great deal thanks to the excellent job done by President Andrea Agnelli which means we can afford major investments in the sporting area. And we certainly want to continue travelling down this road.” added Marotta
