Cesc Fabregas Sizzles: Player Ratings For Chelsea Vs Swansea City

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea stretched their lead at the top of the table to eleven points after they overcame a stubborn Swansea side at Stamford Bridge. They showed some great spirit to claim 3 points after it looked like the game was heading for a draw.

Chelsea Player Ratings

Thibaut Courtois 6/10- Had few problems with his handling but looked good overall. Could not do much to keep out Llorente’s headed goal.

Gary Cahill 6/10- Decent performance from the defender though he let Llorente free for the goal. However, looked solid and commanding for most of the game, despite losing possession on a few occasions.

David Luiz 5/10- A surprisingly strange outing for the Brazilian who struggled with concentration initially, but got better as the game progressed. Did not pick up Llorente for the Swansea equalizer and was caught out on a few breaks.

Cesar Azpilicueta 6/10- Another impressive display from the reliable defender. Was his usual solid self, but may have considered himself lucky not to concede a penalty after a handball inside the box.

Marcos Alonso 6/10- The wing-back had many opportunities to run forward on the left flank but his crossing was poor. However, he made up for that with his defensive attributes.

Victor Moses 6/10- Like his fellow wingback, raided down the right channel but the final end product was poor. Was always there to track back when required.

N’Golo Kante 7/10- Combative in midfield and the Frenchman put in a dominant display when in possession. Helped Chelsea in the middle of the pitch with his constant pressing on the ball.

Pedro Rodriguez 8/10- The former Barcelona man got an assist and a goal, which got his side back in front. Was a threat all afternoon.

Eden Hazard 8/10- The Belgian star was at his dangerous best throughout the game. He got the assist for Costa’s goal as he turned, twisted and harassed the Swansea defence. Was a massive threat and almost got his goal, but was denied by a superb save.

Cesc Fabregas 8/10- The midfielder was the star of the game, having got the opening goal. He played some delightful passes, orchestrating the tempo and flow of the game. Claimed an assist for Pedro’s goal and also linked up well with the other attackers.

Diego Costa 7/10- Struggled during the game, but managed to tuck in Hazard’s cross to seal Chelsea’s victory even though he wasn’t at his lethal best.

Substitutes-

Kurt Zouma 6/10- Brought on late by Conte to see out the game.

Nemanja Matic 6/10- Came on late to add strength to the Chelsea back-line.

Willian 6/10- Full of energy and almost claimed an assist when he came on for a brief period of time.

Swansea City Player Ratings

Lukasz Fabianski 4/10- Made plenty of superb saves, but let a rather tame effort from Pedro get under him to let Chelsea regain the lead and eventually take control of the game.

Alfie Mawson 7/10- The defender had a fine game and eventually went on to make a number of crucial blocks for his side over the entirety of the match.

Federico Fernandez 6/10- Should have had the opening goal of the game but couldn’t get his head to connect with the ball, handled Costa well and was strong enough to prevent him having any real chance till late in the game.

Martin Olsson 5/10- Was struggling with Moses’ pace on the left-hand side and could not focus on attacking as he was pinned back. He was also booked for a foul on Moses.

Kyle Naughton 6/10- Defended well whenever he was required to do so and cleared a header off Alonso’s head to prevent him from scoring. Got a yellow card for a foul on Hazard.

Leroy Fer 5/10- Could not get into the game due to Chelsea’s midfield bossing it entirely. The midfield battle was too much for him to handle.

Tom Carroll 4/10- Could not live up to the pace of the game and had to be subbed off in the second half. Hazard was running around him in circles, making the Swans midfield look like a school team.

Jack Cork 4/10- Could not keep a lid on Fabregas as he was left clueless due to the Spaniard making runs from deep. Fabregas could have added a few more goals in the game as he wasn’t picked out by Cork.

Gylfi Sigurdsson 7/10- Looked like the only threat Chelsea had to deal with, despite not being at his best. Had a penalty appeal waved down and whipped in two beautiful deliveries, one of which Llorente scored with.

Wayne Routledge 5/10- The English winger found it difficult to create anything all afternoon as he was made to run back more than sprint forward to help full-back Naughton.

Fernando Llorente 7/10- Had predatory instincts all game but lacked any sort of real quality service. Scored with his only opportunity with a well-taken header.

Substitutes-

Luciano Narsingh 6/10- Could not have much of an impact on the game.

Jordan Ayew 5/10- Introduced late on but could not effect anything in the game.
