Who Is This 21-year Old Polish Ace Who Could Sign With Leeds United? Everything You Need To Know

Scout Report – Kamil Miazek

According to reports coming out of Poland, Leeds United are about to sign 21-year-old goalkeeper Kamil Miazek from second division side Chojniczanka.

A scout from that region working for Leeds to identify hot new talent, Jakub Bokiej, revealed the news via his Twitter account and it is expected that the player will join up with the Leeds academy.

At this point in time, it is not certain whether or not Miazek will chose to leave Poland this time around, though when these chances come along, advisors tend to ensure players take them. No announcement has come from Leeds yet, but watch this space.

History

Stopper Miazek started his football education with Belchatow in Poland, a top tier side and one which helped bring him to the attention of European giants Feyenoord. Having been offered a deal by the Dutch Eredivisie side back in 2012 he played for their under-17 and under-19 teams before attempting to force his way into the first team ranks in Rotterdam.

When first team football appeared a step too far at the De Kuip Stadium, Miazek returned to Poland in July last year and signed for Chonjniczanka. Then 20, the ‘keeper signed on back in his homeland for two years but appears ready for a new level now, having been spotted by Bokiej and Leeds.

Style Of Play

At over 6ft 3in tall, Miazek has a commanding presence and guards his area well from set pieces. His height means he is very difficult to beat from long range, though as he reaches his physical peak over the next few years, he’ll be better than what he is right now, getting that large frame down to shots from closer range.

Miazek’s Future

Given his inexperience, it is difficult to judge how big the 21-year old goalkeeper would go. Clearly Miazek has raw talent, having been spotted first by Feyenoord and now Leeds United – both clubs with reputation for educating good young players to become genuine top level performers. On that basis, it would be no real surprise to see Miazek play in one of Europe’s top leagues by the time he turns 25.

Miazek has named former Arsenal ‘keeper Wojciech Szczesny as someone he looks up to and he seems to want to emulate the Polish international by playing in England’s Premier League. No doubt he will be offered plenty of support by his hero, in his attempts to do just that.
