Strongest England Line-up That Southgate Can Field Against Germany In The Upcoming International Friendly

The international break may be frustrating for fans of clubs across Europe but it does bring with it some interesting fixtures between the best footballing nations in the world. This international break, Gareth Southgate’s England will face Germany and Brazil in two exciting friendly games in the next few days.

The game against Germany will be played this Friday night at Wembley. The World Champions are expected to go with a full-strength squad and here is the strongest XI that Southgate can field for this tie:

Team News

Youngsters Tammy Abraham, Joe Gomez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all given a call-up to the national team. Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson, Fabian Delph, Raheem Sterling, Harry Winks and Dele Alli all withdrew from the squad in the last couple of days.

Michael Keane and Jake Livermore were included in the squad after injuries forced few players to withdraw from the squad, while Chelsea ace Gary Cahill has been passed fit for this tie.

Confirmed squad

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland, Joe Hart, Jordan Pickford

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand, Gary Cahill, Joe Gomez, Phil Jones, Michael Keane, Harry Maguire, Danny Rose, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker

Midfielders: Jack Cork, Eric Dier, Jesse Lingard, Jake Livermore, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ashley Young

Forwards: Jamie Vardy, Tammy Abraham, Marcus Rashford

Strongest XI (4-3-3)

GK – Jack Butland

The Stoke City man should be given a chance ahead of Joe Hart, who is slowly being displaced by the 24-year old.

Jack Butland

RB – Kyle Walker

The pacey full-back has been one of the best in his position in the league this season and deserves to start at right-back in this tie.

CB – Gary Cahill

Just declared fit, the Chelsea veteran is expected to start as the senior centre-back against a Germany side with some impressive attacking quality.

CB – Phil Jones

The Manchester United defender had a less than impressive time against Chelsea before the break but is the first choice for Southgate and should start against Germany.

Phil Jones

LB – Ryan Bertrand

With the lack of a top-class left-back in the squad, Southgate has little option but to use Bertrand, like he did in the previous few games.

CDM – Eric Dier

The versatile Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been a regular in the first-team for the club and should keep his place in this side as the deepest of midfielders for England.

CM – Jake Livermore

With Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana out injured, the Three Lions should stick with Hull City midfielder Livermore, to partner Dier in the middle of the park.

CM –Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Yet to play in the senior side, the Chelsea youth product deserves a chance to start this game, after his performances for a struggling Crystal Palace side in the domestic competitions.

Marcus Rashford

RW – Jesse Lingard

The youngster is one of the very few wingers in the current squad and deserves to start on the right-hand side of the attack.

LW – Marcus Rashford

Though he had a completely forgettable outing against Chelsea at the weekend, Rashford is still one of the most exciting players for the English national team and is expected to start on the left flank.

ST – Jamie Vardy

With Kane out injured, and Abraham the only other option, Leicester City ace Jamie Vardy is the senior striker and will hope to put in a solid performance, to gain some confidence for the rest of the season.

Here is how England might line up:
