Gary Neville Gives Selection Tips To Jose Mourinho For The Arsenal Game – No Rooney

Gary Neville

The former Manchester United right-back has excluded Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his starting eleven, instead wanting summer signing Armenian captain Henrikh Mhkitaryan playing in midfield against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

“Well, David de Gea is the easy one in goal. I would then pick Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and probably Daley Blind at left back at this moment in time” says Neville

Neville who was heavily involved in the fiercest of rivalries with United vs Arsenal in the 1990’s and 2000’s says that the Premier League is way more competitive at the moment and is back to the higher level that it used to be.

“I would then have Paul Pogba to the left in midfield, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera in there. Then ahead of them, I’d have Henrikh Mikhtaryan to the right and then….Anthony Martial to the left and Marcus Rashford up front.”

Neville also feels, if required upon, the two veteran striker, Rooney would make a strong bench and have the quality to come on and make an impact

United claimed their first league win in four games before the international break, but sit at a disappointing sixth in the Premier League going into Saturday’s clash.

Jose Mourinho has made a stuttering start to his Manchester United managerial career with 16 points in 11 matches but Gary Neville believes that the ‘Special One’ should be given plenty more time and also shrugs of criticism claiming its nowhere near the end for Wayne Rooney at the club.

The Red Devil’s are six points behind Arsenal, who are just two off leaders Liverpool and Arsene Wenger’s men are unbeaten since the opening day of the season.
