Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Sheffield United
Manchester United start their FA Cup journey with a relatively easy game against League One side Sheffield United. What seems like an easy game might not turn out to be that, especially with the record that Louis van Gaal has in cup competitions and exits at the hands of lower league opposition, MK Dons and Middlesbrough come to mind.
United though will start as favourites against Nigel Adkins’ side and will be hopeful for their front-line to start scoring goals, something that has been a miss at the club. Manchester United though did get a win in their last game at home, a 2-1 win over Swansea and a similar result will be the least expectation from the home crowd.
There are a few injury concerns for United with Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw still out and with this being the only realistic chance of United getting any silverware, here is the predicted line-up in the FA Cup tie against Sheffield United.
Sergio Romero
The Argentine hasn’t played enough games this season and he could get a chance to play against Sheffield United.
Matteo Darmian
United fans must be pleased with the Italian returning from injury and he should start against the lower league side to get a few more minutes under his belt.
Chris Smalling
The best defender that Manchester United have, Smalling should start for the Red Devils in this cup tie.
Daley Blind
The Dutch defender might not be most comfortable playing in the centre of defence but Van Gaal prefers him there and would be likely to start the game for them.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
The 18-Year Old defender may get a surprise start. The youngster might get a chance to do well against lower league opposition and he seems to have the support of the manager as well.
Michael Carrick
Michael Carrick could be one of the key players in the game and he would have to be at his best with his passing ability to give United the win.
Morgan Schneiderlin
The French central midfielder will have a tough time against the Sunderland midfielder and he has to play to his maximum ability if United are to have a strong hold of the game.
Ander Herrera
The midfielder has been one of the few players who seems to give it his all on the pitch and he should be one of the first players on the list against Sheffield United.
Memphis Depay
The Dutch attacker hasn’t had the greatest time in England and maybe playing against a lower league side, he could gain his confidence and swagger back and perform to his abilities.
Wayne Rooney
The goal against Swansea must have taken a bit of pressure off the shoulders from the United captain and he will hope for another strong performance against Sunderland in the cup game.
Anthony Martial
Martial got on the score sheet against Swansea and should lead to line and hopefully score a goal or two against a poor Sunderland team that has been leaking goals.
