2 Clubs Who Should Look To Sign The Highly-rated Leeds United Goalie On Loan Including Portsmouth

Two Clubs Who Should Look To Sign Bailey Peacock-Farrell On Loan This Summer

Leeds United’s young goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell signed a new contract with the club. The club has confirmed that the 20-year old has signed a new three-year deal, that sees him extend his stay at the Elland Road until the summer of 2020.

Peacock-Farrell, till date, has made only one senior appearance for the Whites, and that was in a 1-1 draw against Queens Park Rangers back in 2016. Having been the No.2 under Steve Evans’ tenure in the 2015-16 season, the highly-rated youngster moved down the pecking order under Garry Monk last season, following the arrival of Robert Green.

Now, with the new manager Thomas Christiansen bringing in Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen earlier this month, Peacock-Farrell’s first-team chances took a further hit, which means there are good chances that he could be shipped out on loan for the coming season. And here are two clubs that could look to take the 20-year old youngster for a temporary stint next campaign.

Oldham Athletic

The League One outfit have expressed a strong interest in taking the Leeds academy product on loan next season, and look like the front-runners at the moment, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Oldham Athletic, managed by former Leeds star John Sheridan, mounted a comeback in the second half of last season to stave of relegation from the third tier and the manager is on the lookout for two new shot-stoppers ahead of the new season as Conor Ripley returned to Middlesbrough after his loan spell expired and Chris Kettings refused to sign a new deal with the club.

Even if a more experienced keeper arrives at the SportsDirect.com Park in the summer, Peacock-Farrell will still be getting a good number of opportunities to play at Athletic, and could hugely benefit from the temporary stay.

Portsmouth

Another League One outfit, albeit a recently promoted one, who are in search of a new custodian in the summer, Portsmouth have made it their top priority in the summer, to bring in a goalkeeper. Kenny Jackett has made it his first task after being appointed as the new boss in June.

Pompey have been linked with Tottenham reserve keeper Luke McGee, but that deal hinges on the North London club signing a new understudy to Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm. A move for Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Chris Walton too has been speculated, but the 21-year old is also chased by Wigan, which could complicate matters for Portsmouth.

With no such strings attached with a deal for Peacock-Farrell, Jackett should consider the possibility of making a move for the 20-year old Leeds man.
