Two Deadline Day Deals Newcastle Should Complete

Newcastle United, true to their owner’s fashion, will either leave things until the last minute or sign nobody at all to aid Rafa Benitez’s cause and keep this team in the Premier League.

Having been quoted £20million for Nicolai Jorgensen right from the outset by a determined and honest Feyenoord, Newcastle went in with a derisory bid of around £12million before upping it to £15million despite knowing his value and this has clearly irked the Dutch side.

Feyenoord could probably say that negotiations over Jorgensen have been frustrating, exhausting and even a “waste of time” thus far. Sound familiar Mike Ashley and co? Isn’t it just so annoying when you have made it very clear from the outset how much money you want for your saleable asset but the potential buyer won’t stump up?

Anyway, Newcastle may yet decide to treat their fans with a little less contempt than normal and add to the loan signing of Kenedy with the following two new players:

Nicolai Jorgensen (Feyenoord)

The £20m-rated forward has done well over the last season and a half in the Netherlands and is Rafa Benitez’s top target this winter.

Things are so tight right now that the arrival of the striker can and probably will be the final piece of the puzzle as far as survival goes for Newcastle – so just pay the money!

Joe Bryan (Bristol City)

Despite the arrival of Kenedy, Newcastle could still do with more quality down the left and a move for future top Premier League talent could prove to be a brilliant move.

Bristol City are of course aiming for the playoffs this season but now that they are 5 points clear of 7th place in the league and are now out of both the League Cup and FA Cup, the club may decide to cash in on one or two of their main assets, Bryan being one of them.

Buying both Jorgensen and Bryan would probably mean an outlay of around £27million. Whether either of these players arrival at Newcastle though is very doubtful given that every January, Newcastle United’s board ensure there are plenty of stories around about “big signings” in a ridiculous bid to pacify the fans. We all remember Bryan Ruiz, Saido Berahino and others.
