2 goals and 7 assists – This 6ft 3in French powerhouse could flourish in a 4-3-3 setup at Barcelona

Why Adrien Rabiot could be a great signing for La Liga champions Barcelona

Barcelona enjoyed a spectacular season as the club experienced several highs and lows throughout the campaign. The Catalans lifted the La Liga title yet again, leaving rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid far behind.

The Spanish champions were unable to mount a considerable challenge in Europe but they truly outdid themselves in the league, which saw them narrowly miss out on an unbeaten season.

Coming to the lows, Barcelona must work towards replacing club icon and legend Andres Iniesta. The 34-year-old spent his entire life at Camp Nou, rising through their youth ranks to blossom into one of the most gifted midfielders of his time. Iniesta has now joined Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe and will ply his trade in the J-League next season.

Barcelona must find a replacement for the Spain international and the club have identified PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot as their top target. Barcelona are reportedly on the brink of signing the young midfielder, who has just one year left on his contract.

Adrien Rabiot

In fact, Barcelona’s director of football Pep Segura and technical secretary Eric Abidal, have flown to Paris to finalize the deal. It’s only a matter of time before Rabiot becomes a Barcelona midfielder.

The 6ft 3in midfielder made a name for himself playing for the Parisiens. He is a talented individual who has shown immense potential over the last few years.

Rabiot came through PSG’s youth setup to nail his spot in the first-team as one of the club’s leading central midfielders. He is a big presence in the middle of the park and often makes his presence felt on the field.

Rabiot made a total of 27 appearances in the Ligue 1 last season, scoring 1 goal and providing 5 assists in that time. He also scored 1 goal and supplied 2 assists in 8 Champions League appearances for the French champions.

It’s not his offensive statistics that do the talking but rather his ability to build the offensive plays. Rabiot is an excellent passer of the ball and is often praised for his ability to distribute the ball seamlessly in the middle of the park.

Rabiot boasted a pass success rate of 92.2% in the league last season while completing a total of 92.9% of his passes in the Champions League.

And a player of his calibre could work wonders for Barcelona. He possesses all the qualities required to make an impact for the Catalan giants.

Rabiot can play in a 4-3-3 setup alongside Busquets and Rakitic next season and his presence would bring about fluidity and cohesion in the midfield. Hence, the Spanish giants should definitely make a move for the talented midfield enforcer this summer.
