2 Ideal destinations for Tottenham’s £17million flop including Lampard’s Derby County

Two Ideal destinations for Tottenham flop Vincent Janssen

Tottenham Hotspur possess no real cover for their star striker Harry Kane. The club signed Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar in 2016, after the forward scored 27 goals in 34 appearances for the club. Spurs paid a reported £17million for the Dutch international but none of that has paid off.

The 24-year-old has barely shown any threat or attacking instinct in the final third. Janssen often looked blank and toothless in the attack. When Harry Kane was off the field, Spurs struggled to get the goals. But when Janssen was on the field, it seemed even harder for Tottenham to score one.

Janssen made the move to the Premier League after receiving widespread praise for his performances in the Netherlands but the striker has so far failed to replicate that form. He made a total of 28 appearances for Spurs in the league and managed just 2 goals. The striker was then sent on loan last season to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce where he scored 4 goals in 15 appearances.

Spurs are reportedly interested in offloading the Dutch international as well as Fernando Llorente. Tottenham are hoping to recoup at least £30million for both strikers. Here we take a look at two clubs Vincent Janssen could join to spark his career back to life.

Fenerbahce

A move back to the Turkish outfit could benefit the Dutch striker. He made 11 appearances in the Turkish League last season, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists. He also scored 1 goal in 1 Turkish Cup appearance.

The 24-year-old looked a lot livelier and active on the ball in Turkey. He was pretty much stagnant and clueless in his time with Tottenham Hotspur but the striker seems to have sorted his feet out at Fenerbahce. He could make a move back to them permanently and enjoy a stellar campaign next season. He was an able partner for Roberto Soldado and the pair could explode next season.

Derby County

Frank Lampard has just taken up the job at Derby and the former Chelsea captain could sign Vincent Janssen to bolster his attacking line-up. The Rams were not at their best last season and could use a new striker in the squad.

Janssen possesses all the qualities to play in a Championship side and maybe taking some time off the limelight could serve the player well. A number of players make the move to the Championship in order to regain their confidence and stability. It could help Janssen revive his career as a footballer.
