2 Last Minute Deals Rangers Could Complete Before The Window Closes Including This Nottingham Forest Ace

Pedro Caixinha

Deadline Day Looming – Two Last Minute Deals That Rangers Could Complete Before The Transfer Window Closes

Rangers have made great strides in the transfer market this summer and boss Pedro Caixinha must be wishing that they were able to gel sooner given their poor showing in the Europa Qualifying round.

That said, that competition may well have spoiled what might be an excellent domestic campaign, and recent friendly performances and results show good things are to come. A 1-1 draw against Marseille recently was followed up with wins at Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, which point to them being Celtic’s biggest challengers at least.

After a busy summer, more deals could yet be in the offing and here are two which could catch the eye:

Jamie Walker (from Heart of Midlothian)

Ian Cathro has now left the Edinburgh club as manager and this may now pave the way for the winger to join Rangers. The former boss had accused Walker of losing his focus given the transfer rumours but now that he is out of the way following a couple of poor cup performances, the move could be on.

Hearts, like most sides these days, could do with the money and so any reasonable bid from Rangers could be met positively in the closing days of the window for a player the Bears could really use following the sale of Barrie McKay to Nottingham Forest.

Walker has proven himself in this league and even performed well in a friendly against Premier League side Newcastle United recently and is still expected to be a Rangers player come the first week of September.

Wes Foderingham (to Nottingham Forest)

This one is a bit of a longer shot, but the former Rangers boss Mark Warburton is clearly a fan of the ‘keeper and probably more so than Caixinha.

Jak Alnwick was brought in last season and has not really had the chance to shine in the first team yet, while young Liam Kelly is well thought of and was handed a new contract at the start of July, keeping him at the club for another two years at least.

With these two in mind, even without another new signing, Rangers probably wouldn’t be too badly off for goalkeepers this season, at least domestically, and that is their only priority following their failure against Progres Niederkorn.

Foderingham to Forest is fully believable given that they are a club that seems to have quantity rather than quality among their ‘keepers at present and if he is a Warburtonophile then the move to the Championship could appeal.
