Two Players Who Could Leave Manchester City In The Summer

Manchester City has been arguably the best club in Europe this season. Following a rather disappointing debut season under head coach Pep Guardiola, the Sky Blues have come out all guns blazing this campaign.

Currently leading the Premier League table with a whopping 16 point lead over Manchester United, the Cityzens are well on their way to secure their first ever league title under the Catalan mastermind. In fact, they’ve also secured their first silverware this season, when they brushed aside Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final.

That being said, Pep Guardiola has always been a man of perfection and one way or another, the former Barcelona coach will definitely want to rectify the weak points they currently have in the upcoming summer, which may see few of the players potentially leaving the club.

In this article, we will talk about two players who could leave the Etihad Stadium in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Patrick Roberts

Currently, on loan at Celtic, Patrick Roberts has been one of the rising stars in the Scottish Premiership in the past 12 months.

Since joining the Hoops in 2016, the English wonderkid has established a regular place in the starting lineup, scoring 18 goals and providing 24 assists in 72 competitive matches for the Scottish giants. Roberts has been an integral part of the success Celtic have had under the leadership of former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

Roberts’ loan deal will expire at the end of this season, meaning he will have to return to Manchester City in the summer. However, considering the presence of footballing superstars such as Leroy Sane, Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva amongst many others, getting first chances might prove to be difficult talented English attacker, which might force Man City to sell their prized attacking asset.

While a return to Celtic is very possible, especially considering the fact that the Scottish giants are ready to break the bank for the former Fulham starlet, Roberts will have no shortages of a potential Premier League suitor either, following his performances in Scotland.

Sergio Aguero

After years of service, it might be time for Sergio Aguero to make the next step in his career this summer.

Ever since his move from Atletico in the summer of 2011, Sergio Aguero has emerged as one of the top players for the Sky Blues. Boasting an incredible tally of 143 goals in just 204 matches, the Argentinian is one of the best strikers in the Premier League history.

However, his importance in the Manchester City lineup has taken a slight downturn following the breakout of Gabriel Jesus. Even though Aguero has scored an impressive 21 goals in just 23 games this season, the Brazilian wonderkid is tipped to be the future of the club in the coming years, which may pave the way for Aguero to leave the Citizens this summer.

Real Madrid, in particular, have shown a keen interest in the services of the 29-year-old, who’s prolific goal-scoring abilities could certainly help the Spanish giants rectify their ineffective attacking department next season.
