Transfer rumours are coming in thick and fast at this time of the year. The rumour mills are working overtime to bring all the latest transfer gossips, so we decide to bring you the latest in the world of transfer news, news that are selling like hot cakes but may or may not gain shape in future.
P.S: These are just plain rumours that have been circling around the tabloids over the past week and not started by our authors.
David Luiz – After what he had done to Chelsea in the previous season, Luiz definitely did not deserve to be in the transfer gossip column and especially for the wrong reasons. It is being reported that incoming Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho do not value Luiz enough to keep in the squad and for the right amount of money he would be willing to sell Luiz. For a player of Luiz’s calibre there are no shortage of bidders though with both Barcelona and PSG displaying interest in the defender.
The Catalans need to strengthen their defense in the summer and Luiz would be a perfect addition. PSG on the other hand need a partner for Thiago Silva in the back and they feel Luiz would be more than competent. But selling Luiz could have negative impacts on the fans and a manager even as charismatic as Mourinho, may have to feel the heat.
Robert Lewandowski – It is not a secret anymore that Borussia Dortmund would not be able to keep hold of their star striker. Germany’s treble winners Bayern Munich rose as firm favorites to secure Lewandowski’s signature after his agent claimed that the striker is set to join Bayern. However, Dortmund has confirmed that they won’t be selling their star to their rivals. Having already lost Gotze to their league competitors, Dortmund want to cut the losses and transfer Lewandowski offshore with many a clubs interested. A potential destination for the Polish striker is definitely England as Manchester City have joined their crossed town rivals United in pursuit of Dortmnud’s Hit-man. Also the latest reports suggest that even Chelsea have entered the race to sign Lewandowski and manager Mourinho badly wants the Polish striker to join the club’s ranks and boost their attack.
David Villa – The speculations about Villa seem endless as both Arsenal and Spurs look to sign the Barcelona forward for ages now. With the arrival of Neymar from Santos, the transfer of Villa was seen just a matter of time but now things have changed a bit. Club president Sandro Rosell has stated that David Villa will remain a Barcelona player. He said:
“Until somebody says the opposite, David Villa will remain a Barcelona player.” This must be a matter of worry for the Arsenal and Spurs fans, but the summer transfer window is still a long way to go.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Liverpool are pretty serious to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Anfield from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Turkish outfits have reportedly asked for a fee in the region of £20m and if Luis Suarez leaves the club that money should not be too difficult to come by. In the post Suarez era, Liverpool would need a world class striker and Mkhitaryan presence although will not be as big as Suarez, but the forward can join the likes of Coutinho, Sturridge and Iago Aspas and add value to the team.
Simon Mignolet – Although Pepe Reina has expressed his desire to stay at the Merseyside club, Liverpool are already preparing life without him. They have roped in Sunderland shotstopper Mignolet for a fee of £7m, if reports are to believed. It is being said that his transfer is just a matter of time now and next season the Belgian goalkeeper would don the Liverpool colours.
Andy Carroll – Sticking on with Liverpool, their striker Andy Carroll, who spent the entire season on loan at West Ham is expected to complete his move to the club for a fee of £15m. Next week onward Carroll should be a West Ham player and this arrangement should suit both the club and the player, who fell much below in the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers.
Isco – Newly appointed City boss Manuel Pellegrini is targeting Champions League glory for Manchester City after succeeding Roberto Mancini and he understands that for that the club needs a couple of transfers. Therefore he wants to bring to City his former club player, Isco who has impressed everyone with his performance. The two clubs are expected to talk very recently about the player.
Laurent Koscielny – What started as a simple news is now turning out be another transfer saga for the Gunners. The French defender reportedly claimed that he may leave Arsenal if the trophy drought continues last week, which started the speculation linking him with a move away from the Emirates Stadium. And the latest from the rumour is that Koscielny’s representative, Stephane Courbis, told Eurosport France that there has been “no contact” from Barcelona but claimed the 27-year-old center back is being targeted by Tito Vilanova’s side, along with Champions League holder Bayern.
“I know that Laurent is part of a shortlist of three or four players for both clubs.”
