Chelsea Deadline Day News: Serie A Defender Set For Medical, Brazilian Superstar On His Way Back To Stamford Bridge And More

Marcos Alonso

The London club Chelsea have so far signed two players, namely, N’Golo Kante from Leicester City and Michy Batshuayi from Marseille and it is certain that the manager is looking for more, and most notably, he is looking to sign a defender.

Now, according to the reports from the Guardian, the Blues are edging closer to sign the former Sunderland defender Marcos Alonso from the Serie A side Fiorentina. The fee of around £23m is reported by the source and player is all set to undergo a medical in the coming hours.

The manager has let Baba Rahman leave on loan to the German side Schalke, while on the other hand, the young left-back Kenedy too has left the Bridge to join the fellow Premier League side Watford on loan, so a left back is now a mendatory option for the side, and it seems like the manager has got the perfect candidate.

Alonso, who can operate at left-back and in midfield, looks set to be Conte’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante and Eduardo.

Furthermore, The Blues have audaciously tried to bring their former centre-back David Luiz back at the Stamford Bridge. According to the reports from Sky Sports, the manager is eager to sign a centre-back as he has already been rejected twice by the Serie A clubs, namely, Napoli and AC Milan, hence, he has now turned his attention to Ligue 1 and offered PSG £30m plus add-ons for Luiz, but the French Champions rejected the offer.

Luiz left the Stamford Bridge two years ago for £50m and now the French giants do not want to make a £20m loss on the player. Now, it is understood that since Conte is in a desperate need of a centre-back, so he might come back with a new and improved offer and in that case, he will have to act fast as there is not much time left for the transfer window to get shut.

Now, according to the reports from ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain are considering the sale of David Luiz after former club Chelsea tabled a substantial offer to take the defender back to Stamford Bridge. The reason for this change of heart is that the possibility of selling one of the club’s four non-European Union players (players without a European passport) — indispensable skipper Silva, plus Luiz, Maxwell and Lucas Moura — has not been there until now.

Furthermore, Chelsea, in the recent weeks, were heavily linked Real Madrid’s star attacker James Rodriguez and many reports suggested that the move might take place. It is very much obvious that the Columbian has no role in Zidane’s master plan for Real Madrid and the manager himself has stated that he can leave if he want and during that time, Chelsea were a reported side looking to offer an exit route to the Columbian.

But now, the tables have turned and the Blues will have to sit back with nothing as James’ manager has recently stated that the player will be staying at the Bernabeu amidst interest from a number of top European clubs.

James Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes spoke to El Chiringuito last night and confirmed that the Colombian playmaker will stay with Real Madrid.

“James Rodriguez will stay with Real Madrid. He will stay, that’s for sure,” he said.

Furthermore, Chelsea’s 28-year-old midfielder Juan Cuadrado is reportedly on the verge to head out of the Stamford Bridge for the second time running and Juventus are the side the Columbian will be heading to. According to the reports from Daily Mail, Juventus will pay a loan fee of £4.5million and another £17m when the deal becomes permanent next year.

Earlier this summer when Conte arrived at the Bridge, he clearly stated that Cuadrado will remain a Chelsea man amidst a constant interest from Juventus, but till date, the Columbian hasn’t featured under the manager and now the sources are claiming that he is on his way back to Serie from where he came into the light (Fiorentina). He joined the Blues back in 2014 but was used sparingly by Jose Mourinho and spent last season on loan at Juventus, where he impressed as they won the Italian title yet again.
