Why Norwich City Over Birmingham Would Be The Ideal Destination For Arsenal’s Krystian Bielik

Arsenal’s young centre-back Krystian Bielik is reportedly wanted by Championship sides Birmingham City and Norwich City. The highly-rated 19-year-old was out injured for three months, after having undergone a shoulder surgery back in September. But he has now returned to under-23 action and is ready for more game time.

Bielek already spent time on loan at Birmingham last season when he made 10 appearances for the Blues, helping them avoid relegation on the last day of the season. Now the second city club want him back at St. Andrews again. Things are not looking any better for Birmingham this season and at present, it seems as though they are on a slippery slope towards League One unless they can turn things around in the January window.

Norwich City though, are looking a little better and were on the brink of signing Bielik in the summer before his shoulder injury scuppered the move.

It now seems that both clubs have been in contact with Arsenal and will make formal bids for the Polish defender as soon as the January transfer window opens.

Bielik is as wanted for his versatility as for his skill level; he can play in the defence and in the midfield, and looks just as comfortable in both, though he has found himself way down the pecking order at Arsenal. Despite his tender age, he is unlikely to want to hang around in the Gunners’ reserves waiting for an opportunity which may never come.

With that in mind, Bielik is likely to want to leave and Arsenal are likely to sanction a move in January which has put both of these clubs on high alert.

Bielik has made two appearances in the Arsenal first-team and is still regarded as a potential Premier League player.  Now, after playing the full 90 minutes against Man City’s under-23’s last week, the defender feels ready to go now and requires first-team football as soon as possible.

With that in mind, his next move must be chosen carefully and given that Bielik is looking for a permanent move, it would seem sensible for him to choose the Canaries over the Blues. Birmingham, with or without his help, are in danger of going down to League One and that is not somewhere for a 19-year-old to be next season, having been close to breaking into the Arsenal team very recently.

At Carrow Road, however, he may yet be in with a chance of gaining promotion to the Premier League at some point and so it seems he may yet get his move to Norwich, if somewhat belatedly.
