Forget It Farke – Signing Aldo Kalulu May Not Yield Immediate Results

Norwich City are reportedly interested in a January move for Aldo Kalulu, who is currently playing for Sochaux on a loan spell from Lyon. The 21-year-old has forward has put up a slew of impressive displays which has attracted attention from several clubs and Norwich are believed to be one of the interested parties. It remains to be seen if he leaves the Ligue 2 outfit in the middle of the season but considering how keen the Canaries are on acquiring his services, the player might agree to move.

He has scored 4 goals in 18 appearances for Sochaux this season so far and looks quite promising. His versatility will also prove to be a boon for Norwich, considering the fact that he can play as a striker and also on the wings. He has predominantly played on the right flank this season but given his speedy runs and creativity, there is no doubt that he can prove to be a viable option for all attacking positions up front.

Whether or not the Canaries can sign him in January remains to be seen, especially since Lyon could choose to recall him. Daniel Farke could perhaps target him in the summer but since he is in need of immediate results, that may prove to be a futile move. However, there is a question as to whether or not the Championship outfit really need him.

Currently, at 15th position in the points table, Norwich are in need of a player who can produce results. Kalulu does boast of tremendous potential and could prove to be a valuable signing in that regard but he may not be ready to start playing for the first-team already.

He is skilled but he is yet to prove his goalscoring potential and Norwich are likely to benefit more by signing a proven attacking player. That said, Kalulu will prove to be an economical option and might be a good option in the summer window but right now, he is unlikely to add much value to the team.

Farke does have attacking options like Marley Watkins, Josh Murphy, Cameron Jerome, Alex Pritchard, Steven Naismith and James Maddison, to name a few, and it is understandable if the manager wants to add depth. But given their requirement and urgency, a player like Kalulu may not be the best choice. If they are eyeing him as a long-term alternative, then it could work out positively but otherwise, it might not yield the kind of results Farke is on the lookout for.
