Leicester City manager Claude Puel is expected to get a substantial amount of money to spend in the summer transfer window, as per the Leicester Mercury.
Puel has done a fantastic job since replacing Craig Shakespeare last year and his good work will be rewarded in the summer when the club sanctions him a solid amount of money to reshape and strengthen his squad.
While the futures of several players need to be resolved by the end of the season, let us have a look at three names Leicester should target this summer.
Matteo Darmian has no future at Manchester United and is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
The Italian signed for United in 2015 under then-manager Louis van Gaal and had started off well before fading out.
Under current boss Jose Mourinho, the right-back has been frozen out of the squad since he has failed to make an impact whenever given chances.
If Darmian decides to leave Old Trafford in summer, Leicester should go for him as he would be an instant upgrade on Danny Simpson at right-back.
The Foxes may have spent big on Kelechi Iheanacho in the summer but he’s failed to convince Puel to break up the Vardy-Okazaki partnership.
With Leonardo Ulloa and Islam Slimani out on loans to Brighton and Newcastle respectively, the Foxes need attacking firepower for next season.
And they could stand a chance to sign a top striker in Kevin Gameiro as he has seen his chances dwindle following the registering of Diego Costa in January.
A French international, Gameiro has ample experience playing for some of the top clubs in Spain. He would be a fantastic addition and Puel should definitely throw money at Atletico Madrid in the summer.
With veteran defender Robert Huth on the verge of reaching the end of his contract, there is a need to sign a central defender in the summer.
Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson has impressed massively this season at the heart of the defence despite the fact that the Welsh club have been embroiled in a relegation battle.
Mawson is solid, reliable and strong in the air and should Swansea suffer relegation, expect him to move on from the club.
With Harry Maguire, Leicester already have one of the most talented English centre-backs around, if they bring in Mawson too, the Foxes could have the future of the England defence at the King Power Stadium.
