Dream West Ham United line-up for 2018/19 season featuring Stoke City star
West Ham United continue to battle for their Premier League future this campaign. After successive 4-1 defeats by Arsenal and Manchester City, the Hammers clinched a 2-0 win over Leicester City earlier in the day. They are now 5 points above the relegation zone.
Manager David Moyes now has just three games left in his hand to secure West Ham’s Premier League status. Come next season, Moyes badly needs a plan to reshape the West Ham squad.
That said, here is a dream West Ham line-up for the 2018/19 season.
West Ham Dream XI
Manager: David Moyes
Artur Boruc (GK)
No decision has been made about the future of Joe Hart so far, who is on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season. Should the England international return back to City in the summer, Moyes must go for Bournemouth’s Arthur Boruc. The 38-year-old is an experienced goalkeeper and would be a good signing for the Hammers.
Declan Rice (RCB)
The emergence of Declan Rice has been a success story for the Hammers in an otherwise forgettable campaign. The 19-year-old has shown immense maturity playing in a three-man West Ham defence and for all his good work, he deserves more game time next season.
Craig Dawson (CB)
West Brom are sliding down to the Championship despite their stunning win over Tottenham earlier in the day. A relegation usually sees a lot of players become available for cut-price deals and Craig Dawson, who has impressed despite the Baggies’ poor form this season, would be better off staying in the Premier League.
As per reports, West Ham are one of the Premier League clubs interested in Dawson as Moyes looks to strengthen his defence at the end of the season.
Angelo Ogbonna (LCB)
Ogbonna has been a rock at the back despite West Ham leaking goals for fun this season. The Italian has been an ever-present figure, showing good composure and distribution from the back.
Ryan Fredericks (RWB)
Fredericks has enjoyed a fantastic season with Fulham in the Championship. However, he has failed to commit his future with the Cottagers and would be available for free this summer. West Ham must snap the 25-year-old up as he could be the perfect replacement for the ageing Pablo Zabaleta.
Arthur Masuaku (LWB)
Attacking displays down the left has been the flavour of Masuaku’s game this campaign. Moyes must ensure that the 24-year-old stays with the Hammers next season.
Leander Dendoncker (CDM)
Dendoncker could be the ideal player to shield West Ham’s backline. He is a player who sits deep, does the dirty work and provides a solid base for the attackers to excel.
Mark Noble (RCM)
Noble continues to influence games for the Hammers. He may lack pace and agility but one cannot deny his work-ethic, which is phenomenal every game. Noble is a leader and should be in the team next season.
Cheikhou Kouyate (LCM)
Kouyate is a versatile player and has played in a lot of areas for the Hammers this season. The Senegalese midfielder is an important player for Moyes and should keep his place in the starting XI next term.
Xherdan Shaqiri (CAM)
Shaqiri must definitely leave Stoke City now that they have been relegated from the Premier League. A sluggish West Ham side should try signing the Swiss international, who would add pace, incisiveness and creativity to the team next season.
Marko Arnautovic (ST)
Arnautovic has been a player reborn under Moyes after the manager handed him the centre-forward role. The Austrian is considered as one of the most inconsistent players in the Premier League but on his day, he could destroy teams single-handedly.
