According to reports, Leicester City are preparing a sensational swoop for Trabzonspor wonderkid Abdulkadir Omur.
Omur was heavily scouted by Trabzonspor before he got a chance to showcase his talent in trial matches. After impressing in the trials, the midfielder joined Trabzonspor’s youth team in 2011. He scored heavily for the youth team which earned him a promotion to the senior side in 2016.
On January 2016, Omur made his senior debut for Trabzonspor in a Turkish Cup against Adanaspor. However, it took him almost a year to make his SuperLig debut, which came against Istanbul Basaksehir in December 2016.
After two years of hard work and determination, Omur finally managed to nail a regular spot in the Trabzonspor senior team last season. His hard-work, tenacity and drive paid off handsomely as he succeeded in establishing himself as a first team regular at the Turkish club. The Under-19 Turkey international made 32 appearances in all competitions this past season, scoring three goals and providing six assists.
Speaking about the player’s style of play, Omur is a left-footed attacking midfielder by trade and possesses exceptional ability at such a tender age. He has blistering pace and top-notch dribbling abilities which are unrivalled for someone so young. The young midfielder also manages to use his diminutive frame to good effect.
The teenager is an intelligent footballer, and that combined with his vision and technique makes him a really hot prospect. He is capable of unlocking defences with intricate and incisive passing and possesses the vision of a seasoned attacking midfielder. Also, Omur is highly versatile which helps him play in either central midfield or in a more advanced role, while he is also capable of playing out wide.
Such traits in an 18-year-old kid are indeed great but Omur has to continue developing his game if he wants to reach his true potential. Omur’s meteoric rise has alerted the likes of Leicester, who are interested in signing him in the summer.
But Omur could find it tough to secure a regular starting spot in Claude Puel’s side. Also, he is very young and a move to the Premier League could be a step too high for him at this moment due to the division’s intense and physical nature.
Therefore, Omur must strengthen, sharpen his skills, gain more experience and become an accomplished player before making a move to the Premier League. The Trabzonspor starlet is destined for bigger things but must not rush into anything at the moment. The right time to leave Trabzonspor for an elite European club would come sooner rather than later.
