3 former Chelsea targets who could still do a great job if Abramovich signs them including this Juventus star

Alex Sandro

Chelsea aren’t having the best of times right now as they are unclear about their coach as well as their stadium. Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri was heavily linked to become their new manager but the move has hit a standstill as Chelsea are unwilling to pay the £7m release clause to acquire his signature.

To make matters worse, the Blues have also been forced to put their new stadium plans on hold as their owner, Roman Abramovich, has been denied a visa to the UK.

After failing to secure a spot in the top-four last season, Chelsea must sign a new coach and procure some new players to mount a challenge for the title again. With that in mind, here are 3 former transfer targets Chelsea should consider revisiting this summer.

Radja Nainggolan

There was a long tussle between Chelsea and AS Roma over Radja Nainggolan last season but the Belgian stayed back with the Italian club in the end. A box-to-box midfielder by trade, the 30-year-old could truly work wonders at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have lacked dynamism in the middle of the park and Nainggolan can provide all that and more.

And it goes without saying that the London-based outfit could still benefit from a player of Nainggolan’s calibre. The fact that he was unable to secure a spot for himself in the Belgium team for the upcoming World Cup is truly surprising but this could be a good time for Chelsea to land their long-term target.

Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro was a transfer target for Chelsea last year but the club failed to reach an agreement with Juventus. A left-back by trade, Sandro can go a long way in boosting depth in that area for the Blues.

While Marcos Alonso is a good option, the Juve star could also provide competition for him in the long run. Thus, the Brazilian continues to be an exciting option for Chelsea to consider.

Andrea Belotti

Andre Belotti was among the prime transfer targets for Chelsea last season but the club eventually chose to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid instead.

However, the Spanish forward hasn’t done much to improve the club’s performances on the whole. With a Premier League title to fight for next term, Chelsea must consider Belotti once more. He can add some much-needed firepower to aid their attack in the seasons to come.

Belotti had a decent season with Torino last season and he could work his magic for Chelsea as well.
