Wolves lineup featuring imminent signing Moutinho and all other new signings

As per reports, Premier League newbies Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Portugal international Joao Moutinho from AS Monaco for a fee of £5m.

Moutinho, 31, has reportedly signed a two-year deal with Wolves, as manager Nuno Espirito Santo beefs up his squad ahead of the Premier League campaign.

The 31-year-old midfielder is the third-highest capped player in Portugal’s history with 113 international caps. He won the Euro 2016 with Portugal and was recently a part of their World Cup squad.

Moutinho joins fellow compatriots Ruben Neves, Rui Patricio, Ivan Cavaleiro, Diogo Jota and Ruben Vinagre at the Molineux.

Without further ado, let us have a look at the Wolves line-up featuring imminent signing Moutinho and the rest of summer signings.

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI

Formation: 3-4-3

Manager: Nuno Espirito Santo

Rui Patricio (GK)

Wolves bagged a coup when Rui Patricio joined on a free transfer from Sporting Lisbon, having terminated his contract. A leader on and off the field, Patricio is an excellent goalkeeper and is a straight upgrade on John Ruddy.

Matt Doherty (RWB)

Doherty was excellent for Wolves this past season in the right wing-back role, bombing up and down, offering a reliable attacking outlet. He will be hoping to make the step up in the Premier League.

Willy Boly (RCB)

The Wolves back-three was commendable in the Championship and Boly was an essential part of it. Now signed on a permanent basis from FC Porto, Boly will hope to make an impact in the top-tier.

Conor Coady (CB)

Coady has grown into an excellent player under Nuno and was outstanding throughout the last season in the Championship.

Danny Batth (LCB)

Batth didn’t play much for the Wolves last season but is an effective player when it comes to playing three at the back.

Barry Douglas (LWB)

Douglas had a really solid season under Nuno and would be determined to make the left wing-back role his own.

Joao Moutinho (CM)

Moutinho is an excellent passer of the ball and would add a lot of steel to Wolves’ midfield. He is a very good reader of the game, knows to dictate the pace of the game and is a leader on and off the pitch. The Portuguese international would represent a statement signing for the Molineux-based club.

Ruben Neves (CM)

One of the stars of the Championship last season, Ruben Neves has proved to be an excellent acquisition for the Wolves. Calm and composed on the ball, the Portuguese may have scored just 6 goals but his overall contributions on the pitch were visible. He is a player one must keep an eye on in the Premier League.

Diogo Jota (LW)

Jota has been a massive hit at Molineux, scoring 17 goals and supplying 5 assists to help Wolves win the Championship. A magical player, he will surely relish the challenge of the Premier League.

Helder Costa (RW)

Helder Costa was inconsistent at Molineux but on his day, he’s capable of wreaking havoc single-handedly. It will be an interesting test for him against the Premier League defenders.

Raul Jimenez (ST)

Signed on loan from Benfica, Raul Jimenez would bring pace, power, agility and more importantly, goals to the Wolves side. The Mexican is an experienced player and he is expected to have a big part to play for Nuno’s side.
