Go for it Rodgers – Celtic must beat Ajax to sign this 19-year-old starlet who can be the next big thing

Daniel Arzani

Why Celtic should beat Ajax to sign Daniel Arzani

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his interest in signing Melbourne City’s attacking midfielder Daniel Arzani. The Aussie had a decent World Cup where the Socceroos gave a good account of themselves.

Reports suggest that the 19-year-old is set to leave Melbourne for Premier League champions Manchester City, but Celtic are in for the player to possibly take him on loan, which will be good for the Australian as well.

It is understood that Ajax were also interested in the player during the World Cup. But the Scottish champions need to ensure that Arzani arrives at the Celtic Park. It would be a good move for the player as well because his national teammate Tom Rogic is already an established member of the squad.

Here’s why Celtic should do everything to get him this summer:

Player Analysis – Daniel Arzani

Age – 19

Main Position – Attacking Midfielder

Arzani is a rapid player who can dribble past defenders in a flash to open up space for a pass or shot on goal.

The good thing about him is his versatility to either play on the left-wing or as a No.10. In both positions, the 19-year-old has shown enough promise to attract interests from clubs in Europe.

Daniel Arzani

The Australian has raw pace and directness with the ball, which is a perfect combination in a counter-attacking situation. He can carry the ball with speed and at such a young age, has the game awareness to make the right decisions more often than not.

The only thing he lacks is stamina and work-rate to recover during defensive situations. But he is still young and will learn more traits as time comes.

Verdict

Rodgers is a type of manager who loves to groom young talents and make them world-beaters on the big stage. Arzani already has vast potential and might need a coach like the Irishman to become one of the best.

For Celtic as well, it will be a shrewd move to get a player filled with bundles of energy to showcase his true potential on a bigger stage. They are almost set to play in the Champions League this season, which indicates the need to have extra options in the attacking department.
