Why Chelsea over Tottenham would be the ideal destination for this promising Championship starlet

Jack Grealish

Why Jack Grealish must snub Tottenham and move to Chelsea instead

According to MetroChelsea are planning to hijack Tottenham Hotspur‘s move for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish. The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to north London but new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is also keen on the 22-year-old.

Former Chelsea captain John Terry, who played for Villa last season, has stated that Grealish has what it takes to succeed at Stamford Bridge. With that in mind, Chelsea must submit a bid and sign him.

Working with Sarri would allow the playmaker to add a different dimension to the squad. Here’s why Grealish must move to Chelsea instead of Tottenham this summer:

Sarri’s system will suit Grealish

Maurizio Sarri loves to play a high-pressing, high-intensity system which suits midfielders who are good on the ball. Grealish prefers to make the ball talk in the central areas of the pitch to split open opposition defences.

The 22-year-old has a pass completion rate of over 85%, with which he fabricated 59 chances in 30 league appearances last season. Furthermore, the Villa midfielder is diligent enough to press high when required and track back to defend and help the team out.

A player of Grealish’s calibre would definitely help Sarri strengthen the Chelsea midfield. The Italian can also provide him with greater freedom to work with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, knowing that a superb N’Golo Kante is shielding the backline.

On the other hand, at Tottenham, there are enough creators and they only lack cover in the defensive midfield area.

Verdict

It is quite tough for a young player to choose between the two London giants. Joining Tottenham means Champions League football to play for but Chelsea, under Sarri, seem slightly more attractive at this point.

Hence, Grealish should choose the Blues instead of their London rivals. He is only 22, meaning the Englishman has plenty of time to further improve his game and play big tournaments in the future.

  1. What the Chelsea who consistently waste young talent coming through and players they purchase? How is Drinkwater and Barkley doing? What utter nonsensical writing. I wont call it journalism as it has been drawn with crayons

  2. An article that is beyond asinine. How many players have Chelsea promoted through their youth ranks, that have become first team regulars, in the last 15 years? The answer would be none since John Terry.

In that time period they have allowed such apparently talentless rejects as Kevin de Bruyne and Mo Salah to be summarily offloaded, whilst the likes of Loftus-Cheek couldn’t even make a first team squad.

Yet, despite this abysmal record of promoting their own young players, you think that Grealish would be better served by moving to Chelsea, as opposed to Spurs, who have a manager in Pochettino with an unparalleled record of promoting English talent?

  3. As written by a clearly bias Chelsea supporting pretend journo.

As previous posters have highlighted this Chelsea being the side that have 35+ players out on loan around the world, while the Chelsea England midfielder at this years WC spent all of last season on loan at CPFC.
    Joke article.

  4. What a silly article and no knowledge of Spurs engine room.. Spurs NEED more creaters as when oppossiton defend it’s extremely hard for us to break trrams down…
In addition Tottenham have an excellent record of nurturing young players under potch particularly. …His best bet is Spurs as we are playing Champions League… and WILL play…Chelsea have more midfielders than supporters at the moment…lol
Guaranteed in a big game against City….Sarri would probably bench jack…but Potch would play him …
