Predicted Sheffield United line-up to face QPR in the Championship

Sheffield United would be aiming to register their first point in the new season when they take on Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Sheffield United have tasted defeat at the hands of Swansea City and Middlesbrough so far, which has put manager Chris Wilder under severe pressure to get a positive result in the next game.

After the humiliating defeat at the Riverside Stadium, Wilder’s side slipped to the bottom of the Championship table, albeit on goal difference, having played a game more than most of their division’s rivals.

With a couple of chopping and changing expected at QPR, let us have a look at the Blades’ team news.

Team News

Paul Coutts has returned to full training this week, but will not be back to full fitness for Saturday’s game. Defender Jake Wright is still recovering from a cheekbone injury.

Wilder, meanwhile, has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the QPR clash.

Probable Sheffield United XI

Formation: 5-3-2

Manager: Chris Wilder

Dean Henderson (GK)

Dean Henderson has not had the best of starts at the Bramall Lane, having conceded five goals in his first two games. However, he wasn’t at fault for any of the goals leaked by the Blades.

Dean Henderson

George Baldock (RWB)

An industrious player, Baldock, who could have done better in Middlesbrough’s third goal, needs to step up from next game.

Chris Basham (CB)

The experienced centre-back didn’t look great in his previous game and will be looking to improve and keep QPR at bay.

John Egan (CB)

Egan was horrible in the defeat at Middlesbrough. Two games on, the defender has looked sloppy in possession and has inspired very little confidence at the back. However, Egan should start against QPR.

Jake O’Connell (CB)

O’Connell looked subpar against Middlesbrough and will be heavily tested by the QPR attackers.

Enda Stevens (LWB)

Stevens offers width to this Sheffield team but hasn’t provided enough for the Blades so far in the new season.

Ben Woodburn (CM)

Ben Woodburn’s entry at half-time against Middlesbrough saw United get some fluidity in the attack. Following his strong showing on Wednesday, Woodburn could start at the weekend.

Lee Evans (CM)

Evans is the player who adds an extra dimension to the Blades’ midfield. His nature of playing it too safe needs to change.

John Fleck (CM)

Fleck did not have the best of outings against Middlesbrough and will be looking to impose himself more strongly against QPR.

Billy Sharp

Billy Sharp (RS)

Clarke was very poor against Middlesbrough which could see him get demoted to the bench. Sharp could replace him in the starting XI to add more thrust to the Blades’ attack.

David McGoldrick (LS)

McGoldrick has so far done well but needs to get a couple of goals to get back his confidence.
