Watford Player Ratings
Heurelho Gomes – 6/10
Gomes made some decent, routine saves in the game but was never really tested by the Reading attackers.
Marc Navarro – 6/10
Navarro was an energetic presence at right-back, always on the move to offer width to the team. Tried some ambitious efforts but they were way off the mark.
Sebastian Prodl – 6/10
Prodl kept things tight at the back and put in some excellent challenges.
Adrian Mariappa – 6/10
Mariappa started alongside Prodl in central defence and barring a few shaky moments, he had a good game.
Adam Masina – 7/10
Masina bombed up and down the left as he showed great enterprise at left-back. He played a big hand in Watford’s opener.
Kiko Femenia – 7/10
Femenia was full of running as he provided a great attacking outlet from the right-hand side of midfield. His crossing was fantastic, as it often caused problems to the Reading defenders.
Nathaniel Chalobah – 7/10
Never looked like he returned from a long injury layoff. Chalobah added a lot of bite to Watford’s midfield and always looked for the forward passes. He will certainly be pleased with his display against the Royals.
Ben Wilmot – 8/10
Shielded the defence very well, often staying so close to the two centre-backs. From a deeper position, Wilmot offered the ammunition with his crisp passing. Never looked for the Hollywood pass or the cross but kept things simple.
Domingos Quinos – 8/10
A debut worth remembering for the young Domingos Quinos! The youngster was a bundle of energy in the middle of the park, creating problems for the Reading defenders with his pace and directness. Scored a pin-missile in the second half as he helped the Hornets reach the next round of the Carabao Cup.
Ken Sema – 5/10
Sema rarely threatened and lacked composure on the ball. Tried a lot to make things happen but it wasn’t just his evening.
Isaac Success – 7/10
Success started slowly but steadily picked up the rhythm. Took his goal very well and did a good job by leading the Watford line single-handedly.
Stefano Okaka – 6/10
Okaka should have scored but his header went wide. Showed some really good touches on the ball and kept the Royals defenders on their toes.
