Lampard to make 1 important change – Strongest 4-3-3 Derby County XI to face Man United

Predicted Derby County line-up to face Manchester United in the EFL Cup

Derby County begin their EFL Cup campaign on Tuesday.as they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Derby County came from behind to win 3-1 against Brentford at home earlier this weekend and Frank Lampard will be confident of upsetting his former manager Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United this week.

The Red Devils won the EFL Cup in Mourinho’s first season at the club but they were sensationally beaten by Bristol City at the quarter-final stage last season. Hence, the Portuguese manager will look to go as far as he can in the competition and expect his boys to complete the job, particularly after a dire 1-1 draw with Wolves on Saturday.

Team News

Tom Lawrence won’t be available against his former club as he will serve his three-game suspension after being sent off at Rotherham United last weekend.

Curtis Davies and George Evans are making good progress as the duo is getting closer to fitness, while Marcus Olsson is a long-term absentee.

Probable Derby County XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Frank Lampard

Scott Carson (GK)

Carson is Lampard’s first-choice in goal and the goalkeeper will retain his place for the Carabao Cup tie against United.

Jayden Bogle (RB)

Bogle has been very impressive for Derby this season due to his highly energetic performances at right-back.

Richard Keogh (CB)

The bedrock of Derby’s defence, Keogh will have an uphill task on his shoulders against United. He will have to be at his best if Derby are to have any hopes of upsetting the Red Devils.

Fikayo Tomori (CB)

It would be a stellar test for the youngster against United’s top-class attackers. Tomori has shown his quality this season and will be raring to make a mark on Tuesday.

Craig Forsyth (LB)

Forsyth is a very solid defender with good passing abilities and clever reading of the game. He is good offensively as well but will have to be extra vigilant on Tuesday when the Rams face the Red Devils.

Tom Huddlestone

Tom Huddlestone (CDM)

This game calls for experience and there is none better than Huddlestone to bring calmness in Derby’s midfield. His presence in the engine room would be crucial.

Craig Bryson (RCM)

Due to Huddlestone’s presence, Bryson will have the license to go forward and contribute to Derby’s attacks at Old Trafford.

Mason Mount (LCM)

Mount has inarguably been Derby’s best player so far this season. He would be a huge threat to Man United on Tuesday.

Mason Bennett (RW)

Bennett has performed really well for the Rams lately and he should keep his place in the first-team.

Harry Wilson (LW)

Back from injury, Wilson was the star in Derby’s 3-1 victory over Brentford. The young forward will now look to build on from this game.
