Sheffield United Player Ratings vs Blackburn: Here’s how the Blades fared

Billy Sharp’s double gave Sheffield United an emphatic 2-0 win at Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday at Ewood Park.

It was a near complete performance from Sheffield United as Chris Wilder’s team dominated the game from the first minute until the last.

Sharp scored two poacher’s goals in the second half to give the Blades a deserved victory that moved them level on points with the Championship leaders.

Sheffield United Player Ratings

Dean Henderson – 5/10

A spectator for much of the contest. His handling was good and he remained untroubled.

Kieron Freeman – 7/10

Was heavily involved going forward and established himself as a reliable attacking outlet down the right. Defended well when required.

Chris Basham – 6/10

A typically solid performance from Basham at the back as he distributed the ball well and snuffed out any danger.

John Egan – 6/10

Egan had a very comfortable night as Blackburn rarely threatened United’s backline.

Jake O’Connell – 6/10

Connell also had an easy night against Blackburn but picked up a cheap booking.

Enda Stevens – 7/10

A cracking ball from the left for Sharp’s second goal. Crossing looked dangerous and he linked up well with the attackers.

Oliver Norwood – 7/10

Controlled the tempo of the game with his top passing and crossing abilities. As usual, a fantastic performance from Norwood in the middle of the park.

John Fleck – 7/10

Fleck tested the Blades goalkeeper with a thunderous drive in the first half. He was involved in the build-up for the first goal.

Mark Duffy – 7/10

Linked up very well with the midfielders and was a constant menace for the Blackburn defenders. Grew tired in the second half but United look so much better when he plays well.

David McGoldrick – 8/10

McGoldrick’s effort was tipped over the bar expertly by the Blackburn goalkeeper in the first half. Assisted Sharp with a low cross from the left.

Billy Sharp – 9/10

A skipper’s performance from Sharp, who tormented the Blackburn defenders to shreds. Scored in the 66th minute with a tap-in before killing the game by heading the ball past the Blackburn keeper into the net.

Substitutes

Paul Coutts – 5/10

An emotional return from an injury hell for Coutts, who replaced the fatigued Duffy.

Leon Clarke – 3/10

Replaced Sharp with barely eight minutes left on the clock.
