2 Top-class wingers Brentford must consider signing in January including 29-year-old Celtic star

2 wingers Brentford must consider signing in January

Brentford have been dealt with a serious blow after manager Dean Smith left the club to join Aston Villa as their manager on Wednesday.

Smith guided Brentford to top-10 finishes in two of the last three seasons in the Championship and his sudden departure has certainly left the everyone scratching their heads.

Whoever replaces Smith at Griffin Park must address certain areas of the squad. One area is the forward department, which is spearheaded by Neal Maupay. He has been scoring goals left, right and centre but he needs support from the other attacking players too.

Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins have done very well this season but the void left by Florian Jozefzoon in the summer needs to be filled in January. That being said, here are two potential wingers who can boost Brentford’s pursuit of promotion to the Premier League.

Ademola Lookman (Everton)

Ademola Lookman is a serious talent currently in the books of Everton. Due to a number of options in the wide department, Lookman has not got enough chances to showcase his talent under Marco Silva this season.

Ademola Lookman

Lookman, 20, was a menace at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga last season. He scored five goals and supplied four assists in 11 appearances for Leipzig after joining from Everton on loan in January.

With regular game time appearing unlikely at Goodison Park, Lookman could go a good job by leaving the club on loan in January again. Brentford should definitely look to sign him in January.

Lookman could take the Championship by storm with his blistering pace, directness and dribbling skills. He has everything in his locker but needs a place to display his talent week in and week out. And that ideal place could be Griffin Park and a loan move for Lookman would suit all the parties involved.

Scott Sinclair (Celtic)

Back in March, the Sun reported that Scott Sinclair wanted to leave Celtic in the summer transfer window. However, the 29-year-old winger is still at Celtic but has mostly been used as a substitute this season.

Sinclair joined Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in 2016 and enjoyed a fantastic debut season in Scotland, scoring a career-best 25 goals in all competitions and winning the SPFA Player of the Year award. However, his form has faded and he is currently out of favour at Parkhead.

Watching Sinclair’s current situation at Celtic, Brentford must make an ambitious move for the player in January. He could cause a real mayhem in the Championship with his speed, trickery and goalscoring abilities.

If Brentford manage to sign Sinclair, he would represent a massive coup.
