Celtic can sign a real gem if they complete a cut-price deal for this out of contract Scottish Premiership sensation

Why Celtic should go all out to sign Glen Kamara in January

According to the Daily Mail, Scottish champions Celtic are one of the many clubs interested in signing Dundee FC midfielder Glen Kamara.

The 22-year-old came on as a late substitute in Finland’s 1-0 win over Estonia on Friday. Glen Kamara impressed during a 20-minute cameo and the report adds that Celtic have been joined by the likes of Rangers, Wolves, Burnley, Sunderland and Derby in having a look at the midfield ace.

Kamara is proving to be a very good player in the Scottish Premiership, putting in some dazzling displays for Dundee. He is out of contract at the end of the season and has been offered a new deal to stay at Dundee but the Scottish club can look to cash in on him during the winter transfer window due to interest from various clubs.

Glen Kamara

As Kamara could be available for a cut-price deal in January, Celtic must make a move for him.

Kamara started his career in England in the Southend United youth system before moving to Arsenal in 2012. He managed just one appearance for Arsenal before leaving the Emirates in search of greener pastures. The 22-year-old had a loan spell at Colchester United before moving to Scottish football, joining Dundee FC in the summer of 2017 on a permanent basis.

At Dundee, Kamara has nailed down a regular spot in the starting XI. He played 46 games across all competitions last season, putting in some really eye-catching displays in the middle of the park.

As far as Celtic are concerned, Brendan Rodgers is spoilt for choices in the midfield. Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, Youssouf Mulumbu, Eboue Kouassi, Lewis Morgan and Callum McGregor are the options that the Hoops have in central areas.

But looking at Celtic’s current midfield options, Brown has entered his 30s, Ntcham has underperformed after starting well this season, Mulumbu is still settling down after arriving in the summer, Morgan has not got enough chances to show his worth and Kouassi has played just once this term.

With Brown ageing and Kouassi out of favour, a move for Kamara would make sense for Celtic. Kamara is a defensive midfielder who excels in intercepting the play with strong tackles and challenges. He has a fantastic engine, is calm and composed on the ball, and possesses excellent distribution skills. And moreover, Kamara is a kind of player who can fit into the structural footballing system of Rodgers.

Kamara will bring considerable depth and strength to the squad and Celtic will get a quality player who can be the difference-maker the club has been craving for this season.
