Forget Rowett – 2 Ideal replacements who Stoke City can appoint including former Swansea boss

Two Ideal replacements for Gary Rowett as Stoke City manager

According to the report in BBC, Gary Rowett has been sacked as Stoke City manager after less than eight months in charge. The 44-year-old was appointed in May after the Potters got relegated to the Championship under Paul Lambert.

Though they were one of the favourites to win back promotion at the first time of asking, it hasn’t turned out that way. They are currently 14th in the Championship table, and have only won eight of their 26 league games.

As of now, Rory Delap will take charge of the club on a temporary basis. He will be assisted by Kevin Russell and Andy Quy. As per the report, the club is hoping for a swift appointment of their third of manager of the year.

Here are two ideal candidates who are capable of replacing Rowett in a job that is getting stressful day by day:

Carlos Carvalhal

The former Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City manager might be the one to re-ignite the mood in the camp. In his short time in the Premier League, the Portuguese showed his managerial skills to be flexible and attuned to the demands of the situation.

Carlos Carvalhal

His attractive nature in general and in press conferences will rub on the players, as they seek to turn the bleak condition around.

Carvalhal’s preferred 4-4-2 formation can be rigid, defensively solid and dangerous on the break. The two strikers up front may feed off each other and wingers could move forward to cross the ball into the box to test the opposition defenders. All in all, the Portuguese has it in him to bring positivity around the Bet365 stadium.

Sam Allardyce

The former England and several Premier League clubs’ manager has something different that could suit the current circumstances of the team. He is pragmatic and very straight-forward in his management, which could aid in bringing the best out of certain players.

Stoke City haven’t been secure defensively, which was one of the reasons why they got demoted to the Championship. Allardyce’s defence-first tactic could help the team to be solid, then look to counter and score goals to win games.

He is different to Carvalhal but equally effective in terms of getting a result when needed. The 64-year-old’s experience in English football will be a deciding factor in many scenarios if he is hired by the Stoke management.
