21 goals, 10 assists – Man United signing this World Cup star would help them move on from £300k-a-week flop

Manchester United opinion: Should Solskjaer make a move for Lozano?

Italian news outlet Calciomercato has reported that Manchester United have re-entered the race for PSV Eindhoven’s Hirving Lozano. The young forward has had an incredible season so far for the Eredivisie side, playing out of his skin despite being only 23 years old.

Coming off an excellent World Cup with Mexico, where he put Germany to the cosh, Lozano has followed up his breakthrough season with impressive numbers.

The 23-year-old finished last season with 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, earning a call-up to the Mexican team as mentioned.

He has followed that up with excellent performances this season. Alongside Luuk De Jong and Steven Bergwijn, Lozano has kept them in the title race. At the moment, they sit in second place only behind Ajax on goal difference.

The Mexican has managed to score 21 goals and produce 10 assists in all competitions. This includes four in the Champions League. It shows his ability and more importantly, why they believe that the 23-year-old can replace Alexis Sanchez effectively (Metro).

The Chilean has struggled to make an impact since his move to Old Trafford. So far, the 30-year-old has managed to score just 5 goals and create 9 in 41 appearances.

For a player who is earning around £300,000-perweek (Guardian), those figures are very underwhelming and the Chilean will go down as one of Jose Mourinho’s worst signings.

Hirving Lozano would help them move on and maybe bridge the gap given just how talented the 23-year-old.

Like Sanchez, Lozano is direct, agile and very clinical in front of goal. That’s his standout ability and it was on show during the 2018 World Cup.

Receiving the ball just outside the box, the Mexican had the composure and the ability to evade four German defenders and score. It showcased everything that the young forward has at his disposal.
