As many players from Chelsea’s squad have admitted that they are not sure about their future at the Stamford Bridge, the club is in the search to construct their squad yet again to give a tough fight to their rivals from the next season. And then there is the Brazilian-born Spanish striker Diego Costa who has sparked the exit rumours and according to the report, the 26-year-old may book his ticket back to Spain by joining his former side, Atletico Madrid. The striker who joined the Blues in 2014 from Atletico for £32 million had a successful debut season with the club but apparently he wants to return to Spain with his former club.
Whosoever will be the next manager at the club will have a tough task to bring back the structure of the team. Antonio Conte who is rumored to be the next manager at the Bridge has already listed 2 transfer targets. Radja Nainggolan is the primary target for the Italian whereas Juan Cuadrado who is enjoying a successful loan spell at Juventus will be offered a permanent contract. Chelsea, the team who is always in search of an attacking substance may have found a right man who can answer every question.
Antoine Griezmann, yes, Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone has admitted that he will let the Frenchman go if a suitable replacement is found. As Diego Costa admitting his desire to return to, Atletico Madrid, Griezmann can be a perfect successor at the club. Diego Costa still has his contract running until 2019 could be the one to be swapped with Griezmann coming to Chelsea and him going to Atletico. The deal will very perfect for both the clubs. Though the Frenchman is not pushing himself for an exit, the club’s boss will approve if some good offers are received.
But will this deal benefit Chelsea?
Well, surely yes. This deal can bring a real confidence in the team. Costa is a real hitter of the ball but had a very poor start to the season likewise all the Chelsea players. Griezmann, on the other hand, is a very skillful player who can play across the forward line and can also play on the flanks whenever necessary. He is a bundle of energy and is a great sprinter and can be a real threat in the wide areas of the pitch. He’s tricky and his left foot has pin point accuracy.
Costa, on the other hand, is a pure striker who is physically well balanced and can keep hold of the ball until the support arrives. But the Spaniard had his controversies in the Premier League due to which he has become the enemy number one for the fans across England. The 23- year-old is an eye catcher for most of the clubs across Europe as Manchester United is also looking to sign the striker. Comparing the stats of both the strikers, Griezmann has surely won the tie. In his 38 appearances for the club, the Frenchman has scored 21 goals so far and has a shot accuracy of 56%. His average passing accuracy is 79% in every game where on the other hand he has created 66 numbers of chances for his club and that is something really amazing.
Diego Costa, on the other hand, has failed very bitterly in this season from the beginning and has not been the one that he was one season ago. In his 32 appearances for Chelsea, the Spaniard has scored just 13 goals in all competitions and has a shot accuracy of 48% and has created 33 numbers of chances for his club. With just 77% of passing accuracy, he has failed to prove his worth but being an only striker the manager could completely rely on, he is a regular starter for the London side.
The arrival of Griezmann will surely be a new beginning for the club and this deal will be an even exchange for both the sides in which neither side will gain or lose. And with the Frenchmen at their side, they will find their new counter-attacking style and the combination of Fabregas, Willian and Griezmann will be something very solid.
