22 Goals In 15 Games: How Will Klopp Fit This Goal Machine Into Liverpool’s Lineup?

Liverpool seem to have clinched the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Alex Teixeira, the player had already agreed terms with Liverpool and the financials are all that needs to be taken care off. The 26-year-old would be another attacking midfielder at Liverpool; the Reds already have the likes of Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho in their side, plus have Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke, Divock Origi and Danny Ings who are their strikers.

This would be another expensive purchase at Liverpool as FSG have always backed the manager, whoever that actually is and the Brazilian would be a great addition to the squad, especially with the likes of Lucas, Firmino and Coutinho already present in the team to help him out.

With an array of talent for the Reds, it would be a little hard to fit in all these stars but Jurgen Klopp does have a big job on his hands as he tries to revamp a squad which has many mediocre players at the club.

A Brazilian attacking trident

While the back four and Mignolet are relatively safe, at the moment, the real rejig would come in midfield and attack. The likes of Emre Can, Lucas Leiva, Jordan Henderson and James Milner have to fit in the two positions open for Liverpool.

The ideal pairing in the heart of the midfield should be Emre Can and Jordan Henderson but the captain has suffered from various niggling injuries and the chopping and changing could see James Milner deputise with the German Can in Henderson’s role.

The attack is the biggest puzzle that Klopp has to solve. Liverpool have way too many strikers in the team and playing them all certainly is not a possibility. Daniel Sturridge would be the obvious choice to play up front only if he were fit and if he doesn’t get a good number of games for the Reds by the end of the season; he could be off to another club.

Christian Benteke is another one whose future looks rather bleak at Liverpool, especially now with the way that Klopp sets his team up. The Belgian is great in the air and if crosses are pinged into the box, he will win 9 out of 10 but that is not the way Liverpool play.

The best performances for the Reds have been when Roberto Firmino has played up top as a false nine, moving about in the opposition half and linking up with the other attackers. Liverpool should play with Firmino leading the attack and Alex Teixeira playing just behind the other Brazilian and linking up with him to play him through.

Teixeira is known for playing just behind the striker and this is where he would thrive for the Reds also. The great thing for Liverpool is that he can play out on the wings thus giving them enormous flexibility, he might not be a crosser of the ball but his direct running is something that Liverpool need. He also gives you the goals. This season he has bagged 22 goals already with just 15 appearances.

The other players who would take up the attacking position on either side would be Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana, again all the three behind Firmino are players who produce their best football when playing just behind the main striker but the trio can interchange and swap their positions which makes Liverpool’s attack extremely fluid and potent.

Liverpool’s trio of Brazilian attackers could well lead them to glory but that is only if Klopp gets the best out of them. Alex Teixeira may struggle to settle in Premier league but everyone hopes he turns out to be a Luis Suarez kind of signing for the Reds.
