3 High quality signings Man United can make with their £100m war chest including this talented Dutch duo

Manchester United opinion: 3 signings Solskjaer can make with the £100m budget

It’s going to be a very interesting season for Manchester United. They’ve already brought in Daniel James and while the former Swansea man is an astute signing, he won’t be enough.

Instead, they need to target more players, people who can make a genuine impact. Yet, given that bids for both Harry Maguire and Aaron-Wan Bissaka have failed so far, with both Leicester City and Crystal Palace not impressed, the Red Devils need other options.

That might be easier said than done, with ESPN reporting that they have just a £100million budget. This could be increased by player sales, of course.

Paul Pogba and David De Gea have both been linked with moves away. It will make things even more complicated for Manchester United but if they do keep both men, then it could change their entire season.

They need to add players and that being said here are three possible additions.

Kostas Manolas

Manchester United have been very keen on a move for the AS Roma centre-back, who will also look for a move away. That gives the Red Devils an advantage as they desperately need a centre-back right now.

They’ve been linked with moves for Kalidou Koulibaly, Harry Maguire and Issa Diop but Manolas might prove to be the best choice. His meagre release clause combined with his sheer skill and defensive ability makes him arguably the best and most cost-effective option for the club.

Not to mention, his experience in both the Champions League and the Serie A will certainly come handy for Manchester United.

Denzel Dumfries

A strong and powerful right back, the 23-year-old is just the man that Manchester United need in their stable next season. Arguably the cheapest option that the Red Devils can buy on the market, the 23-year-old has made quite a name for himself playing at PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutch international arrived in the summer of 2018 and finished the season by playing every single game. This includes the Eredivisie and the Champions League, contributing to 11 goals over the course of the season.

That’s more than almost every Manchester United star and more importantly a better record than any current full-back. Dumfries is defensively very impressive averaging 2.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 2.1 clearances per game.

It’s certainly an impressive statistic and one that shows just why the 23-year-old will be able to flourish in the Premier League.

Steven Bergwijn

Linked with a move to Liverpool and even Manchester United, it’s the Red Devils who need the young winger more. The PSV Eindhoven star has been exceptional alongside Hirving Lozano this season, although many believe he has been better.

He finished the season by scoring 15 goals and creating 13 more in all competitions. This shows just how talented and prolific the Dutchman can be and his goals have come at the most opportune moments.

It’s that ability to be able to step up in the biggest moments where the club needs him the most and is what Manchester United need, especially since the likes of Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez have all failed to make the most of their chances.

While Martial did start the season well, he petered off after that with Sanchez and Lingard scoring just 7 between themselves. It needs to change and Bergwijn can help with that.
