3 ideal January destinations for West Brom’s wantaway star including West Ham United

Three ideal destinations for West Brom’s Craig Dawson

Craig Dawson didn’t endear himself to the West Brom fans in the summer, looking to force his way out of the club after submitting a transfer request.

It seemed as if Dawson would never kick a ball for West Brom in the Championship but no move materialised throughout the summer transfer window and eventually, the defender stayed at the Hawthorns.

Darren Moore looked destined to lose his star defender but Dawson is back and was chosen for the last couple of games. With the transfer window now closed, Dawson will stay at West Brom until January.

The 28-year-old clearly wanted to leave the Baggies in the summer and come January, he could make his wish come true. That being said, here are three ideal destinations for Dawson.

Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town have endured a poor start to the new Premier League season, drawing only two points out of a possible 12.

Town have been very poor defensively and were punished ruthlessly by Manchester City last month. They have leaked goals at an alarming rate and it would be a big mistake by David Wagner if he ignores to sign a centre-back in January.

Craig Dawson

That would make Dawson’s signature for Huddersfield so crucial. A player like Dawson could work wonders for Town due to his massive top-flight experience. At 28, he is entering the prime years of his career and he could be a really good addition for Wagner’s side.

Cardiff City

For a newly promoted Premier League team, top-flight experience is vital in order to remain in the league. Keeping that in mind, a player of Dawson’s quality would do a world of good for Cardiff.

Getting a centre-back in January must be high on Neil Warnock’s list of priorities as the Bluebirds still lack depth in that department.

Warnock has a decent side but if he wishes to increase his team’s chances of staying up, a player of Dawson’s pedigree is exactly what he would need once the transfer window reopens.

West Ham

Who would have thought West Ham will be without a single point after four games, particularly after their busy summer spending?

Regardless of the transfer activity, the team lacks cohesiveness. The Hammers have struggled at the back, with the defence coming under a lot of criticism.

To solve his team’s defensive woes, Manuel Pellegrini must make a move for West Brom’s Craig Dawson. He would add a lot of reliability to West Ham’s backline whilst his ability to pop up with goals from set-pieces will surely excite Pellegrini.
