3 Liverpool players Gerrard should look to sign for Rangers including this experienced defender

Three Liverpool Players Who Gerrard Can Target For Rangers

Scottish giants Rangers appointed former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard as their manager on a four-year deal, on Friday. Gerrard, 37, replaces Graeme Murty, who was placed in charge following the sacking of Pedro Caixinha in October.

Rangers are in a permanent state of instability and to curb it, they felt the best man was the former Liverpool skipper. It will be a huge task for Gerrard to take Rangers out of the mess and challenge Celtic next season.

So, here are three Liverpool players he should look to sign for Rangers in the summer.

Dominic Solanke

Solanke arrived at Liverpool from Chelsea at the start of the season with much fanfare but has failed to nail down a regular place in the starting XI. The 20-year-old has struggled for game time, with attackers Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino ripping apart defences this season.

Solanke has made 24 appearances this season, including three in the Champions League for the Reds. Five starts and 19 substitute appearances are yet to yield a goal for the young striker as he continues to cut a frustrated figure at Anfield.

A one-year loan move to Ibrox could be a good one for Solanke to get back his lost confidence. Under Gerrard, he would also find the manager that will rebuild the morale and provide him opportunities to showcase his talent.

Ben Woodburn

Woodburn is a top talent and had every Liverpool fan talking about him this season. However, Jurgen Klopp has not utilised the attacker perfectly, failing to hand him his fair share of chances.

The 18-year-old has become a regular in the Wales national team and at such a tender age, it is a huge thing. That speaks volumes about the talent that he is. It is high time Woodburn asks for a loan deal as he desperately needs first-team experience to nurture his skills.

Should that happen, Gerrard must pounce on the player as he has worked with Woodburn at Liverpool. The Welsh attacker would be a top signing for the Rangers.

Ragnar Klavan

Klavan has failed to find his feet in the Premier League since joining from Augsburg a couple of seasons ago. He has been hit and miss at Liverpool but that doesn’t tell the entire story.

The Estonian is an experienced centre-back but has struggled to establish himself in Liverpool’s first-team. However, he would be a fantastic addition for Rangers, as Klavan would provide solidity and experience to the club’s backline.

Gerrard, who faces the daunting task of ensuring that Rangers close the gap on their fierce local rivals Celtic, must attempt to sign Klavan at the end of the season.
