3 PL clubs who would benefit from signing Barca prodigy Riqui Puig

According to Sport English, Barcelona prodigy Riqui Puig has said that he would be willing to join other clubs after a lack of chances and playing time has left him unhappy at the Catalonia side.

The highly-rated central midfielder plies his trade with the Barcelona B side in the Segunda Division B – the third tier of the Spanish league.

Meanwhile, Barca boss Ernesto Valverde was of the opinion that Puig, who has got great potential, needs to wait more given the number of players that they already have in midfield.

The diminutive player, who has already scored 2 goals from 10 matches, has been given a free role in the midfield.

However, with limited first-team options ahead and the 20-year old’s desire to feature for no other side in La Liga other than Barcelona, a shift to other leagues would groom him for the bigger stages.

A loan move or a permanent deal to any Premier League side would immensely benefit the central midfielder. Let’s have a look at some clubs for whom the young Puig’s move would prove beneficial.

Burnley

The Clarets have not had the best of starts to the season as they languish at the bottom half of the table at 14th place.

Manager Sean Dyche has the experienced midfield duo of Jack Cork and Ashley Westwood to pull the strings.

Jack in his 30’s and Westwood, 29, have looked far from convincing this season. Ashley has provided two assists while Cork is yet to open his account.

With summer loanee Danny Drinkwater still recovering from an ankle injury, Dyche is in dire need of a midfielder who could up the ante for his side.

A loan move for Puig could benefit Dyche as the youngster’s arrival would usher some energy and add creativity that his side lacks currently.

Bournemouth

For a team that mostly finishes in the bottom half of the table, Bournemouth have raised a few eyebrows as they are seventh in the table.

Eddie Howe must be a happy boss after their good start to the season and would be looking to build on it in the coming days.

Unfortunately, five of their men are sitting out with injuries and this could affect the team’s morale.

The Cherries midfield has clicked well, with recent signing Philip Billing doing a commendable job. Billing has provided just one assist but has been influential in linking up the play.

David Brooks, veteran Andrew Surman, and Dan Gosling are out and their return remains unknown, limiting Howe’s options in the midfield.

Bournemouth need reinforcements in the middle if they are to continue their good run of form and a January move for Puig would improve their attacking options in the middle.

Watford

Watford are clearly in troubled waters and might even get relegated when the season finishes.

Without managing to win a single game yet, Quique Flores and his side look doomed, and nothing short of magic could pull them out of this situation.

For Watford, midfielders, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Tom Cleverley and Will Hughes have found the back of the net just once.

The midfield seems out of sorts as Hughes remains the only midfielder to even provide an assist.
