Food For Thought: 3 Players Manchester United Should Cash In On Before The Transfer Window Shuts

The number of new signings at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho does mean one thing; there will be a number of players leaving the club before the close of the transfer window. It would not be possible for the Premier League club to keep hold of so many players and there will be some tough calls to make for the Portuguese manager but that is not a problem for him.

The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan manager has a habit of selling players and making huge profits on them or even selling them for ludicrous amounts. We all remember the David Luiz deal when he sold the Chelsea defender to PSG and even the Juan Mata transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United.

The Red Devils should try to recoup some of the money spent in the transfer window so far and here are three stars that United should cash in right now.

Memphis Depay

The Dutch attacker was brought into Manchester United with a lot of expectations but under Louis van Gaal he clearly struggled and did not look anywhere close to the star player he was at PSV Eindhoven.

The 22-year-old might still have time to relook at his career but the £25 million United stumped out on him would certainly be needed back in some form or another.

There is no guarantee that Jose would be playing the Dutchman in the team and the earlier they can sell him off to another club, the better it would be for the Premier League side and the player as well.

Daley Blind

Another Dutch player is on the chopping block for Manchester United and this might not be his fault entirely. Playing Daley Blind in defence was a bit of a no-brainer for most but Louis van Gaal stuck with it, even though Blind was more comfortable playing as a full-back or a midfielder.

The Dutch “defender” had an ok season for Manchester United but getting back in the defence would be hard for him now thanks to the signing of Eric Bailly. Manchester United now have a defender they can rely on and Blind’s position in the team is in question.

The 26-year-old does not have too many years at the highest level and the quicker the club sells him the better it would be. They still can earn a decent amount if they sell him to the right team and market him well, something that Mourinho is known for.

Marouane Fellaini

This one really is a no-brainer, we have no idea why Fellaini was brought into Manchester United by David Moyes and how he survived so many transfer windows at United.

The Belgian midfielder isn’t known for his attacking ability and neither is he the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League either, he has not been able to perform at the levels he achieved at Everton and selling him now does make more sense.

With so many midfielders in the Manchester United side already, it does seem too much having Fellaini sitting on the bench and showing off his new hairstyles to his teammates. They might not get a lot of money for the player but it is still better than letting him rot in the team for no reason.
