3 Players That Manchester United Should Never Have Sold

Manchester United celebrating their UEFA Champions League win

Manchester United is one of the most successful clubs in the world, winning a bunch of titles along with their history while assembling great teams, counting with great players who brought happiness and great joy to the “Red Devils”.

However, some of the great guys that had defended their fort have come and gone over time and sometimes even great institutions like this one wind up regretting to let their stars go. Today, we’ll discuss three players that we believe should never have been sold.

  • Ruud Van Nistelrooy. This Dutch striker landed in Manchester in 2001 after three seasons of playing with PSV Eindhoven and as soon he got to Old Trafford, he started to show what he was capable of. Ruud showed himself as a lethal striker, scoring 25 goals in 32 matches and 10 goals in 14 games of Champions League in his first season as a Red Devil. while also breaking the record that was shared by Mark Stein, Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry after scoring in 8 consecutive matches in Premier League.

Manchester supporters got used to see that kind of performance from Ruud and under Sir Alex Ferguson’s command, he won 4 titles with Manchester and scored 148 goals in all the competitions until he left the team to join Real Madrid in 2007. Ruud was arguably the best Manchester United striker in last 20 years, so it’s definitely a shame that he wasn’t with the team the year they won the UEFA Champions League.
