Manchester City opinion: 3 potential replacements for Ilkay Gundogan
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City’s midfield maestro Ilkay Gundogan has stalled contract talks with the club. The German will enter the final year of his contract at the start of next season and if a deal cannot be agreed in the coming months, he could be sold in the summer.
The German has had a wonderful season for the Cityzens so far and his manager Pep Guardiola reiterated his desire to keep him at the Etihad beyond next summer. However, Guardiola also stated that he would allow the German international to leave in the summer if he does not want to stay.
City would need a quality replacement to fill the role of Ilkay Gundogan and here are 3 players who Guardiola should consider making a move for:
Toni Kroos
Manchester City have been linked with the highly experienced German international and he would be an ideal replacement for his compatriot at the Etihad.
Kroos has been an integral part Real Madrid since his arrival there and has played a massive role in their consecutive Champions League triumphs over the last three years.
The German World Cup winner has previously played under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich and he will know exactly what is expected of him in the midfield role.
