3 Premier League players who could be on the move today including star Liverpool duo

3 Premier League players who could move on the Transfer Deadline Day

The early closure of the transfer window has left clubs scrambling around for some late deals. This summer, Deadline Day is upon us three weeks earlier than usual, and this apparently leaves English clubs at a disadvantage when compared to other European leagues.

With the European transfer window slamming shut only on August 31, English clubs may sell or loan players out, but won’t be able to replace them until the winter transfer window opens in January.

As the transfer deadline is fast approaching, here are three players could be involved in the late switch.

Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur)

Could Toby Alderweireld be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United? It’s a story that has been running for some time and the Daily Mail claims Manchester United have tabled a £40million offer for Alderweireld. But Tottenham value the Belgian at around £55m.

It is no more a secret that Jose Mourinho is targeting a central defender to strengthen his defensive ranks ahead of the start of the new season. Mourinho needs a warrior at the heart of his defence and Alderweireld certainly fits that bill.

The Belgium international fell down the pecking order in north London last season, as a hamstring injury ruled him out for several months. But after regaining full fitness, Alderweireld showed in the World Cup as to why he is regarded as one of the best central defenders across Europe.

Simon Mignolet (Liverpool)

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was a deputy to Loris Karius for much of last season and he has dropped further down the pecking order after the big-money arrival of Brazilian number one Alisson Becker from AS Roma.

Surprisingly, the Daily Mail claims Napoli are interested in Mignolet despite signing Orestis Karnezis from Udinese and Alex Meret from SPAL.

However, with Napoli well stocked in the goalkeeping department, Mignolet would be better off joining a Premier League club instead.

Danny Ings (Liverpool)

Another Liverpool player who could be on the move on the deadline day is Danny Ings, who is being chased by Crystal Palace and Southampton, according to the Evening Standard.

Ings has endured a frustrating three-year spell at Anfield and found the net just once in the Premier League last term.

The 26-year-old needs first-team football but it will be interesting to see which club meets the Reds’ £20m valuation of the striker.
