Andreas Pereira has been considered as one of Manchester United’s hottest prospects since being recruited from PSV Eindhoven in 2011. The 21-year old made his first-team debut in the infamous 4-0 defeat to MK Dons in 2014, but the Brazil youth international began to redeem himself last season with his sensational free-kick in an EFL Cup clash against Ipswich Town being one of the most memorable moments. He made a positive impact during the pre-season as well under new manager Jose Mourinho.

However, the former Chelsea boss decided to send him out on loan to La Liga side Granada in the summer of 2016 to aid his development and Pereira seems to be taking the opportunity to impress his boss with both hands.

The talented midfielder who has netted thrice this term, scored two impressive goals in his last two appearances for Granada, creating waves all around. Firstly, he netted a clever free-kick in the 3-1 defeat to Espanyol, and then went on to hit a sublime volley from outside the area to give his side their second victory of the campaign against Las Palmas on Monday. With his strong performances in the middle of the park, Pereira, at such a young age, has emerged as the leader on the field for the Liga strugglers.

Pereira has been one of Granada’s better performers and has displayed that he is ready for the step up at United.

Here we give you three reasons, why Jose Mourinho shouldn’t delay in inducting him into the first-team setup:

Versatility

Even in his days with the United youth setup, Pereira had shown great versatility in his play. And he has just enhanced his reputation after moving to Granada.

The 21-year old has mainly featured out on the left-side but has also been used as a central attacking midfielder and even in a slightly withdrawn midfield role. Pereira has even played as a defensive midfielder and has looked comfortable in whichever role he has been asked to take on for the Spanish side.

He has been their most influential player, having created 24 clear-cut opportunities in the La Liga, the most by any player among the Granada squad and has scored thrice as well. With his ability to slot in anywhere across the attacking half of the pitch, Pereira could bring huge value to United next term.

Leadership

Despite being just 21-years of age, Pereira has shown a great amount of grit and determination in his displays for Granada this term.  Pereira’s adaptation to La Liga has been even more impressive considering his team’s ongoing crisis, having seen a managerial change as well.

The Brazilian has shown great commitment and attitude in each of his appearances. Always the first to press for the ball, never hiding despite his team’s poor displays, he has shown great personality on the field. Owing to his gallant performances in the midfield, Pereira has drawn great praise from all quarters in the Spanish press. Granada’s correspondent for Marca, Jorge Azcoytia, speaking of the midfielder to IBTimes.co.uk, said, “Pereira is proving that he can be the leader of a team.” One of the very few constant fixtures for the Andalusian side, Pereira has truly emerged as a leader on the field.

Goals and Creativity

Having scored three goals, Pereira is the second-highest goalscorer for Granada this season in the Liga. Agreed that the numbers aren’t mind-boggling, but despite being used across all over the pitch he has shown he can contribute with goals for his team. Pereira also has created the most number of clear-cut opportunities (24) for the Andalusian outfit this term and has been their biggest threat in the attacking third.

Pereira made a huge impression in the pre-season with United before moving to Spain and has just gone on from strength to strength since. There is no doubt that he will bring much value to the Red Devils, especially with Memphis Depay having left in January and doubts surrounding over the futures of the likes of Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young and Anthony Martial.
