Manchester United have some work to do on their squad this summer and Jose Mourinho is already planning to spend big at the end of the season. The Portuguese manager has some big names on his wish list for the summer and PSG’s Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is one of many such names that United are targeting at the moment.
The 24-year old is currently one of the best players in his position and is a hot prospect this summer. He is well settled in France and is not really looking for an exit. But a move to England could be tempting for Verratti as new challenges await him at the Theatre of Dreams. Verratti’s versatility and defensive awareness will allow Pogba to venture forward freely and can help Manchester United add balance to their midfield.
Long term solution
The Italian midfielder is just 23-years old but has already established himself as the first-choice for his club and country. Mourinho is building a core of players that are in their early twenties, with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly alongside Paul Pogba are all still in the early stages of their career. Verratti is a similar star who is on the rise and if this becomes the core for United next season, they have some good days lying ahead.
