Manchester United have some work to do on their squad this summer and Jose Mourinho is already planning to spend big at the end of the season. The Portuguese manager has some big names on his wish list for the summer and PSG’s Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is one of many such names that United are targeting at the moment.

The 24-year old is currently one of the best players in his position and is a hot prospect this summer. He is well settled in France and is not really looking for an exit. But a move to England could be tempting for Verratti as new challenges await him at the Theatre of Dreams. Mourinho might have to break that bank to get him to the club and here are three reasons why he should not hesitate:

The perfect partner for Paul Pogba

Though it would mean that Manchester United’s midfield will worth an insane amount of money, Paul Pogba alongside Marco Verratti is a midfield combination of the dreams. Both players are probably the best at what they do in Europe and though it might take some time, Manchester United will have the best midfield pairing in Europe in no time. Verratti’s versatility and defensive awareness will allow Pogba to venture forward freely and can help Manchester United add balance to their midfield.

Long term solution

The Italian midfielder is just 23-years old but has already established himself as the first-choice for his club and country. Mourinho is building a core of players that are in their early twenties, with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly alongside Paul Pogba are all still in the early stages of their career. Verratti is a similar star who is on the rise and if this becomes the core for United next season, they have some good days lying ahead.

His energy

At just 23, Verratti is one of the most hardworking players around. He covers every blade of grass in almost every game for PSG and is there saving them every time they need him to be. He is disciplined and exciting but his biggest asset is his energy in the middle of the park. He rarely vanishes from games; even in the big ones, and is one of the few players that give their everything right until the final whistle. His love for the game and his will to win games push him to work even harder – something that Manchester United can definitely add to their armoury.
