Manchester United has been mooted as a possible destination in case Edinson Cavani does decide to move again in the summer. However, here are 3 reasons why this move is a bad idea for all the parties concerned.
1. It’s simply too costly
Cavani joined PSG from Napoli for €64 million last summer. That is a huge sum of money, even for the seemingly endless funds of the oil sheiks bankrolling PSG. So, any move would mean that at least a similar amount would have to change hands meaning that United would have to stump up over £50m on only one player.
Even if we assume that United have enough funds to make the deal happen, the entire squad needs strengthening assuming a lot of the deadwood in the squad will be moved on in the summer. So, spending that kind of money on one player would limit the ability to rebuild the squad, something that United are in desperate need of, despite the new sponsorship deals that United signed recently.
