3 Reasons Why Chelsea Fans Should Be Looking Forward To The Next Season

This season had started very poorly for Chelsea with the club getting ousted from the Champions League from the group stages and falling behind the two Manchester clubs in the title race. But finally they ended on a high note winning the Europa League and hanging to their third position ahead of Arsenal. Now with a new manager joining the side next season, 2013-14 can really belong to Chelsea and the fans should be optimistic for the following reasons.

Mourinho to be sacked

New manager

Rafa Benitez, who was appointed as the interim manager, had to work in a venomous environment but has brought relative success to the club. The fans never liked his appointment in the first place and now their wish of Benitez leaving Chelsea has been fulfilled with the Spaniard set to take over Napoli. But the person heading Chelsea’s way is none other than Jose Mourinho, much reason for the fans to feel delighted. Chelsea fans have seen their prayers rewarded after six years and will want him to pick up where he left off, another golden era.

It would be the second time that the Special One will be in charge of the London club after his exit from the club in 2007. Mourinho is still considered an idol by the Chelsea fans and his appointment is bound to liven up the spirits among the fans.

Super Frank Lampard

After much ado, finally owner Roman Abramovich has succumbed to the voice of the fans and decided to extend his contract. The midfielder who is an inspiration for the team in the midfield has broken the highest goal scorer’s record for Chelsea and now his tally stands at 203. This news must come as a big relief for the fans who were petrified at the thought of Super Frankie leaving the club and joining some other team.

A Superior side

It is expected that Mourinho would wish to strengthen the team further and add a dependable striker to the ranks. They were first being linked to Falcao but now the Atletico Madrid star looks set to join Monaco. Still they have the likes of Cavani, Gomez or Rooney to choose from. If none of the deals go through as expected they can still have Lukaku who will be back from his loan spell. All in all, the team will get strengthened further, proving enough hopes for the admirers of the club.
