Sometimes a player needs a bit of a kick to get back on track, at least on his career track. When Lucas Moura broke onto the football scene with the Sao Paulo team, he was expected to turn the world alight and in fact people did not even know about a certain Neymar. A few years later and a move to PSG ha still not paid dividends for the 22-year-old.
Moura was always expected to do great things and he was brilliant in Brazil but moving away at such a young age to a new country did not help him and neither did it help his football.
According to the latest reports, Manchester United are in the running to sign him talented Brazilian but United should stay away from the Brazilian and here are 3 reasons why.
The massive price tag
PSG would be looking to recoup some of the money they had put on Moura and would want a huge transfer fee, just to start the discussion. United could sign a lot of top attackers for that amount of money, in fact they could sign a couple of world class youngsters for that amount of money, Instead of spending it on Moura they could get a Depay or Bakkali and they could still learn more and have time to prove themselves rather than Moura who has not been able to do much at PSG, even though he has the talent.
Not the most prolific goal scorer
Moura is speed king who can hurt any opponents with his thundering pace but to play as an attacker for United, you need to have a penchant for scoring goals. Robin Van Persie might not be at the club any longer and instead of just relying on Rooney, United need to find other players who can chip in with goals. Moura played 53 games last season but scored only 5 goals, yes 5 while he has scored 8 goals this season in 28 appearances. Moura still needs time to become a top scorer in the final third and that is something which can play hugely against him in this transfer season.
Not the greatest physically
One of the biggest negatives from Moura’s game is that he does not have the physical presence that is required to play in a tough league. Moura can be taken off the ball easily and that is something which will not work in his favour in England. He still has to learn how to keep the ball and not wastefully give it away. If he can fix these issues he could easily sign for any club in the World but with him not really living up to his billing, this transfer to United might be one journey too far.
