3 Safe FPL captaincy options for GW 29 including Man United and Chelsea stars

Fantasy Premier League Opinion: FPL Captain picks for GW29

The midweek results would certainly have come as a pretty big shock to the followers of Fantasy Premier League all over the world and this was partly due to the surprising results we were presented with.

While Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were the biggest winners of the gameweek, the highest point scorer was Anfield centre-half Virgil Van Dijk with 20. Surprisingly though, four out of the top six point-scorers from this set of fixtures were all defenders.

Liverpool’s backline put in a dominant display with Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold collecting 13 and 18 points respectively in the midweek. Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson put in a solid display as well while Swiss centre-half Fabian Schar of Newcastle scored a blinder to notch up 15 points.

In the upcoming set of fixtures, Tottenham vs Arsenal stands out as the most prominent game which could make a captain pick from this game that much more risky. With Harry Kane and Alexandre Lacazette both involved, it could be tempting but a risk of that extent can be costly.

Chelsea travel to Fulham while Manchester United welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge and both of these could be high-scoring clashes. With Manchester City set to visit the Vitality and Liverpool making the short trip across Merseyside to face Everton, there are multiple captaincy options.

Here are our 3 FPL captain picks for the upcoming Premier League gameweek:

Marcus Rashford (ST) – Manchester United

The Manchester United forward didn’t start the midweek game against Crystal Palace and a massive number of FPL players had to resist selling him for the gameweek.

With his return looking imminent when Southampton come to Old Trafford, captaining the Englishman has the potential to pay high dividends as he will be eager to come back into the XI on a high.

Sergio Aguero (ST) – Manchester City

The Argentine would be the safest bet to captain for this gameweek as his Manchester City side will be travelling to Bournemouth, who were recently thrashed 5-1 by Arsenal.

With a selection percentage of more than 37%, this is a move that could turn out to be a common one but given the talisman’s goalscoring record, he is effectively assured to deliver points every time he steps on the pitch.

Eden Hazard (LW) – Chelsea

The Belgian magician hasn’t delivered too many points over the last couple of gameweeks and will be looking to repay the faith placed in him by more than 24% of FPL players.

Third on the list of highest point-earners of the season, Hazard’s 166 points have been extremely well distributed and his contribution to this Chelsea team assures that he delivers points in at least every other match he plays.
