3 Standout Players For AC Milan’s 4-2 Win Over Catania

Ac Milan

The race for the Champions league qualification is heating up between AC Milan and Fiorentina in the Serie A as the clubs are separated by just a point. With Fiorentina picking up all three points in an early kickoff on Sunday, Milan knew only a victory would keep them in a Champions League qualifying spot.   They did manage to win the game, but had to do it in the hard way as the visitors Catania took the lead twice but the Rossoneri managed to come back each time and ended the match with a 4-2 scoreline, maintaining their 1 point lead over Fiorentina.

Although, Milan dominated possession in the early exchanges, they failed to pose any threat in the final third and eventually went behind as Nicola Legrottaglie headed in the first goal for the visiting side which was equalised by Mathieu Flamini at the stroke of the half time after some  good attacking play from Boateng and Balotelli.

The match continued to be an open affair in the second half and Milan were soon caught on the counter by Catania when Pablo Barrientos cut through Milan’s defenders with a beautiful pass to find Berseggio, who made no mistake to give the visitors a well deserved lead for the second time in the match. But the Rossoneri were far from finished as they scored 3 goals in the last 15 minutes to secure three very important points to gain the lead back from Fiorentina.

Three outstanding players for Milan who helped them come back twice before making it 4-2.

1. Kevin Prince Boateng

Even if his passing wasn’t as pinpoint as we would like at times, he showed glimpses of the player Milan fans fell in love with last season. An incredible rocket off the post denied him what would’ve been a delightful volley, nonetheless Boateng assisted the second goal and was instrumental with his crossing on the right wing as well.

2. Giampaolo Pazzini

What’s there more to say. Two goals in the span of three minutes after his entrance in the second half. Pazzini gave Milan fans the Champions League dream with Pippo Inzaghi like finishing. Remember, you can’t teach instinct and positioning.

3. Mathieu Flamini

An engine in the midfield who has scored three straight consecutive goals. Hard to leave him off this list as he’s won his place in the starting XI.
