Top three performing strikers in the Premier League so far
Prolific strikers are an essential part of any squad in the Premier League. Every team needs a quality striker to lead the line or it’s going to be a huge problem to find the goals elsewhere. Though midfielders and wingers are also capable of popping up with goals consistently, it’s the forward that strikes fear into the opponents.
In the opening four weeks, a number of top-class strikers failed to deliver on a consistent basis. Harry Kane finally broke his August hoodoo but the likes of Jamie Vardy, Roberto Firmino, Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang are all yet to hit full stride.
Here we take a look at three strikers who have impressed for their respective clubs this season so far.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham)
Currently sharing the top-scorer spot in the league with 4 goals in 4 games, the Serbian seemed wasteful in the opening game. But since then, Mitrovic has been extremely prolific in front of goal. He offers a new dimension of aerial advantage to this Fulham team. 3 of his 4 goals have come through headers.
Mitrovic has not been shot-shy in the opening weeks, taking a total of 18 shots of which 9 have been on target. The 23-year-old also hit the woodwork twice and failed to convert a number of chances. However, he has been one of Slavisa Jokanovic’s main threats going forward. (Stats Courtesy – Premier League)
Marko Arnautovic (West Ham United)
West Ham United may be rock bottom on the league table but with the kind of form Arnautovic is in, they should be able to get back up. The Austrian has scored 2 goals in 4 games and came close on a number of occasions if not for brilliant saves from the opposition goalkeepers. (Stats Courtesy – Premier League)
Arnautovic is the kind of striker who is capable of scoring goals not just from a half chance but even out of nothing. His direct dribbling and pace on the ball make things very nervy for defenders. If West Ham stay up this season, expect Arnautovic to play a key role in the process.
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
The England captain finally broke his August hoodoo with a goal against newcomers Fulham. Now that Kane has managed to do so, the striker can aim to cross the 30-goal mark with ease.

Kane has also been superb with his link-up play with Lucas Moura up front. The two have so far looked confident and cohesive together. Kane also scored a splendid goal against Manchester United and will be aiming to hit new heights this season.
